Breathing relaxed. This seems the S9 is not the path to walk for me. I don't distinguish the ogg Vorbis Q10 from the lossless when encoded with the Lancer encoder, not the case with the Q9 so, no worries. Regarding the headphones - use the RS1's for the E10 and see what happens.

to the op have u tried plugging in your hd600 to the s9? im not saying its logical but just to try the power of its built in amp

Easy fix: Just grab an iRiver H300 series, rockbox, and upgrade the harddrive. Should take a whole 20 minutes.
