Amphora Headphone Amp Impressions - Page 20

As promised, I took some pictures of the Amphora and my setup. Here they are:

The lighting could definitely be better, but I think the first one manages to capture the Paduak wood's actual color pretty well.

I just received my ALO Amphora #50 today and I must say this Amp is just beautiful, one thing I will say also you can tell the difference between a $250 amp and this beauty.  Ken and Vinnie you guys have done a wonderful job with this Amp.  I just enjoy listening to this Amp with my W1000x. Oh, and thank you Ken

Besides being one stunningly beautiful series of amps, its one of the few that gets EVERYTHING right about the musical presentation.  Enjoy the heck out of it for us will you!

Hi Rideau,

Thanks for your post, and I'm glad you are enjoying your new Amphora!

Ken makes really nice enclosures.  We take a lot of pride in making them, and

appreciate all your feedback.

Enjoy your weekend, and happy listening!

I just picked up a used Amphora (#005) and it really does make my 701s sound marvelous.  I was a little surprised at how high I'm turning up the volume (around 2-3 o'clock at High Gain).  Is this the norm with the 701s?

Just curious.

UPDATE:  OK, Vinnie sort of answered this question in a previous post.  No worries.

I really do have to thank the Ken and Vinnie for the highest level of craftsmanship put into this amp, it really is something special.

(And did I mention that it sounds absolutely fantastic as well!)

Very nice.

The Amphora is such a nice looking unit, I wish I had $1,000 to get one. Just for the looks! Although as you all who own one know it sounds amazing.

It sounds even better than it looks.

Tonight I hooked up the line out of a HM-801 to my Amphora, put the gain on high and used my HD800's.

It doesn't get much better than this!

Yep, still enjoying my Amphora as well. Glad I didn't sell it to valens7 When I loaned it to him or I'd have seller's remorse.

[edit to fix typo and add that the reason I didn't move up to the Isabellina HPA was the lack of analog inputs or iMod Vcaps]

One drawback to the Isabellina HPA is that it does not have analog inputs, ... but I hope to correct that soon by replacing it with an Isabella w/ Isabellina DAC and HPA! O yeah baby!

Hey Now,

I just purchased a used Amphora (#019) in Paduak and it is stunning. It sounds breathtaking. The emotional connection to the music is so ever present now. Thanks Ken and Vinnie.
