what's happening to my shures with go-vibe magnum?

Hi to all!
I've been having some rather strange responses from my shures (e3c) whenever I hook them up to the newly purchased go-vibe magnum. The amp isn't technically new, it has roughly 300 hrs on it. I had gotten it as an alternative to corda headsix (which I absolutely love with its brilliant highs and mids). However, by stupid impulse I decided that I needed more bass (and the convenience of gain control) and bought this thing.
Now, while I do get more bass, all the highs and mids are rolled off and generally sound smeared. Having very little experience in the world of quality portable sound, I am not sure if the go-vibe needs to be paired with different phones or is generally not that great of an amp? Or do I need to just pair the headsix with different phones if I still want to preserve the clarity of its sound but extend the bass?

Sounds like the GV Magnum is more suited for the ER-4 more than the Shures. If the amp supports opamp rolling, you can try using different opamps which sounds brighter - this will need some testing and efforts on your part

thanks for the reply... my wallet is already cringing since it is very difficult for me to truly "test" things out without committing to a purchase first. Best I can do is rely on research and suggestions from those who know a thing or two about these matters
I think I am more limited by my budget to invest in a good (or decent) pair of earphones rather than further amp experimentation -- as much as I would love to do that... I guess I am wondering if I am better off getting klipsch x10 for the headsix or er-4p for the magnum?

The one that come with the UE's is the one I use for my Hearyourself.com C-3's. but you may want to opt for using just an inline volume control as a temp. stop gap. turn down the volume on the attenuator and then up the amp.
