newbie question about when to use amplifier

Hi guys, I'm new to the audio scene and had a quick newbie question on which types of headphones generally need an amplifier. From my understanding from a quick readthrough of the forums, I believe that its mostly the headphones with a higher ohm rating that generally benefit from the extra push the amps correct? I'm getting a sennheiser HD485 soon which I believe is only 32 ohms (and should be easily pushable by most mp3 players I believe) and was wondering if I should bother getting an amplifier (was thinking of getting an E3 or E5) or not for it since I'm not sure if it would make any difference.

Has anyone out there used this combo before and can give me their experience?
