well IMO the pico DAC is wonderful and has great synergy with the included amp; for obvious reasons. IMO it does represent good value, but depending on your headphones you may get better performance out of a home amp. but obviously you cant carry them with you. this argument pops up here all too often and I have been burned before for stating my opinion; so I will avopid it now.

that is a matter of opinion; although I would think that the HD600 would be near the bottom of that list as they are a very hard HP to drive to potential. I tried the pico with some MS-2 and that was great. the amp section (I have amp only) does a great job with my denon D2000

I think its more likely the TF10 are not so suitable for rock. the TF10 (yes I owned them for a little while and didnt like them) has a quite recessed midrange and that is where most rock music needs power and performance. The pico IMO has a wonderful midrange, but not enough to make something appear out of thin air.
