Correct. Also, because of the rather impressive P.R.a.T. the amp has, if a bass hit has higher frequencies associated with it (certain kinds of drum hits, as the most obvious example), those higher frequencies come through (to my ears) with the sound as that sound should sound in real life.

Due to the nature of the Denon D5000, the sound is still slightly warm overall, but the pad mod and the K.I.C.A.S. have helped tone down a fair bit of the "overly warm" nature of the D5000's sound. Not that the K.I.C.A.S. is "lean" in any way, just that it helps the D5000 driver perform as it was designed (or so I think).

Greymoor I am so disappointed lol. Though I am going for the original K.I.C.A.S now and it may only exist in black

In the last group buy, black and silver were bought. I'm quite sure the other colors are available. I think the outer case is identical on both amp types (correct me if I'm wrong).

by our next batch, both amps will be offered in a myriad of colours and availability will depend upon the colours we have available at the time. Custom colour units will be more expensive though, and by a greater margin than the group buy alluded to - sorry, but it costs a lot more than one would think to stock colours.

Too bad, I was hoping I would be the only one with a Blue Caliente

Ever since I saw that pic of yours, I've been dreaming of having a blue Caliente of my own

. Has a ball park time frame been announced for when the new batch will be in stock?

Oqvist - I am sorry!! I had caught a wicked cold and all thoughts of listening to music and such had fled my head, which felt like the size of a blimp. I did not even listen to music because everything sounded terrible with my head so plugged up. I promise to get some pics uploaded.

I have not even been on Head-fi since that last post. Gah I hate coughing, I will be glad when this bad mother leaves me.

I've been excited the way the Caliente paired with my RS-1 and it is sitting on loan to a friend who is several states distant so he can hear Caliente/RS-1. He'll be sending it back next week. My preference in not to do reviews, but to let friends listen. Generally speaking, both Skylab and tBonner have done superb reviews where they've nailed the quality of the amp.. Words on a page do not express what you hear when the Caliente is paired with RS-1(flats). I have to admit that I'm curious about what will happen if the build is with Mundorf's.

I have yet to try my RS-1s with my Caliente because the synergy with my K701s is nothing but impressive. I've always maintained that when driven properly, the K701s can provide a warm and weighty sound if and when the music calls for it. Take a song like Meat Beat Manifesto's Hellfire. On the K701/Caliente pairing I am not only hearing the heavy heavy impactful bass but feeling it as well. Coupled with the accuracy of the AKGs and the soundstage it really is a complete sonic experience. So much so that I've been leaving my 701s, which I recabled and terminated to balance, plugged in - via an adapter I built - into the Caliente rather than my Headroom Balanced Desktop amp. I'm not saying that the Caliente is better than the Headroom (the Headroom is clearly superb) but the synergy between the two is so good that I am very satisfied listening via the Caliente if I don't feel like firing up my reference system.

Quite the little gem especially when you factor in the price. Purity Audio has produced quite the bargain amp.

I have also been enjoying the combo of the KICAS Caliente and AKG 701s as warrior05 has mentioned. I am looking at having my 701s reterminated for use with my balanced CKKIII amp and I am now very interested to see how the Caliente holds up to the balanced CKIII after warrior05s coments. I will post my thoughts here when I have the recabling done but for now I am realy enjoying this amp with the single ended 701s.

I'm really enjoying the synergy between the K.I.C.A.S. Caliente & AD900s. This is My first Full-Sized HP Amp & second Amp overall (RSA P-51 Mustang). Purchased this Amp from a fellow Head-Fier in Mint condition w/350hrs. Have it paired up w/a Onkyo Universal Player & 0.5m Wireworld Equinox IC. Sound is very well-balanced, quite neutral w/perhaps just a touch of warmth in the mids. Very revealing of source & recordings, naturally rendering all the micro-details w/fine precision. The highs w/AD900s are clean & airy, they simply sparkle w/o being harsh or bright. Mids are really beautiful, so lush & rich, vocals are full of life, not thin & hollow. Perhaps just a tad forward w/AD900s, makes for a highly engaging, very musical sound & a whole lot of fun to listen to. Bass response is well-controlled, tight & punchy w/great extension & weight that really brought AD900s to life. Exactly what I was looking for, going to be using this in My Bedside Rig w/a NAD C525BEE that I'm picking up tommorow from a really cool Head-Fier who's been holding it for Me.

Aloha

Yes, is there a plan yet in which a next Group Buy falls on a tentative time line? In general time terms, according to that plan, when does the next Group Buy happen?

we plan to start shipping our next batch of amps (regular stock) around the end of this month.
