OK last bump!
I hooked the Meridian back up to the Supra last night, and this thing is amazing! I don't think I have listened to it since I put it up for sale. I must of listened to 6 CD last night. I woke up in the middle of the night fully dressed and in my listening chair with my headphones on.......and put Pink Floyd in the Meridian!!!! I guarantee, for this kind of money you will never hear your music so well portrayed. From the slightest cymbal tap on my favorite CD "Pulse" Pink Floyd to the most impact-full tight bass you will ever heard from a bass drum through headphones! This CD has so many layers of background:.. talking, someone running, the crowd yelling, more noises and more special effects in this CD, then any other that I own. I will bet you that most of you have never heard all this CD has to offer. Everything is so "just right."
While I am reviewing, there is a string bass on my Patricia Barber CD. "Companion" (Second track "Use me") Where the lowest bass notes have the strings hitting the frets, and the bass is so low and still the Supra portrays this with a tautness and control that is amazing. (and can you hear the bass player counting to him self? I can!) It's recored live in a small club and you can hear the glasses of drinks on the waitress/Waiter's tray in the background. (not just the part where someone spills the drink everyone can hear that.) My point is there is micro detail, midrange to die for, and tight, tight, tight, bass that has real weight and the percussion has impact!! (when called for) and a huge soundstage way outside your head. OK I had fun last night!!!!!
With the HD 800 a ways off my money problems have passed. I am looking into vinyl! for the Supra.
I am thinking that I am going to be hooking and unhooking the Meridian more often now. (speaker rig/headphone rig)
