Try this if you're having random pops/clicks with your USB audio device - Page 2

Have always used NEC chipset add in cards for USB2 and they always work.

NEVER use VIA chipset cards. They either undervolt or just plain cause hassle.

You just have to search a bit harder for the NEC chipset cards. Also be wary sometimes the cards are advertised as NEC but turn up with a VIA card.

ok, overclocking 2D settings did nothing, but changing to vista basic did drop the graph a lot. almost flat, with only 1 peak significant enough to cause a pop in 15 minutes of testing.
however, vista basic looks crap, sooooooo.... pops it is! updating all my drivers has seemingly helped by a lot though.

As for KMixer, there are various ways to bypass it, for example, by using ASIO. Just search the forum, there are plenty of threads about KMixer, ASIO, etc.
Thanks, I have soo much to learn!

Vista Basic 64bit is the best version of the lot! Vista with all the functinality of XP but without all the bloat.

I posted earlier about the fridge. I've since removed my speakers from the power strip. both 30W speaker sets are on an extension with a light. This extension shares the outlet with my laptop's power supply. Pops are about as frequent as before, with no apparent link to scrolling or anything specific I do on my computer.

I've got an ATI Radeon x1400 video card in my Dell E1505. I've only got ATI drivers, but I'll probably mess with the Catalyst Control System settings and see what that does. Could someone tell me where I could view these 'spikes'?
