Vinyl Rip Wav. to Flac Conversion?!

totally noob enquiry here:

I'm using audacity to record my vinyl and have just installed rockbox on my ipod so i can venture into the world of FLAC! only problem is EAC and dBpoweramp both don't like the WAV. files i'm trying to convert?
itunes simply converted all the WAV. files from audacity to mp3 with no problem. What programm out there will do the same with wav. to FLAC conversion?

thanks in advance for any help with my total noobness...

foobar and dbpoweramp. Have you installed flac encoders? Have you setup encoder? You may have to edit the tags after conversion.

Did you rip them 16bit or 24bit?

think i was ripping them at 32bit? EAC throws up something saying the WAV. files aren't uncompressed stereo WAV.s even though I records at the highest possible quality in two channels? yeah not sure what the deal is. was hoping there's just another reliable program i could give a go that isn't as fussy as EAC and dBpoweramp

I don't think the FLAC encoder knows how to deal with 32 bit float. If you go to Edit | Preferences | File Formats in Audacity, you can set the uncompressed export format. If you're not going to do any additional processing, 16 bit should be more than adequate for a vinyl rip, but you can use 24-bit signed if you really want to (it's under Other...) The FLAC encoder seems to choke on 24-bit files if I try to have it do ReplayGain, but seems to work otherwise up to 24/96.

I use the simple FLAC frontend utility to encode vinyl rips and then fix the tags up with MP3tag.

Edit: I just noticed that one of the uncompressed file formats is 16-bit flac.

Well, there is your reason. FLAC don't support 32-bit audio, as its limited to 24-bit or lower.
At least that's what I am aware of.
