Did you ever hear the PS-1? To me, I never really like the GS1000s with electric guitar rock but found the PS-1 (and the rest of the lineup) perfect for it. How does the PS1000 sound with that genre?

The wooden box is bought separately and worth extra price of $75 plus delivery cost.

I congratulate Sanderman on getting this can early , as mine shipment should take 3 weeks

Never heard them. Bought the HP1s the year they were introduced but sold them so long ago I can't compare. The original RS1s and GS1000s are all I can relate them to.

Still just a handful of hours into burn in (a good sense of color is developing...)

Thanks. Based on the RS-1 and GS1000, would you say the sound signature is closer to the RS-1 but more refine? I know the soundstage would be very close to the GS1000, but I guess you can confirm.

Thanks for the awesome pics and quick review. Tiny imperfections aside, they do look stunning.

But seriously... foam and in a cardboard box? REALLY?

Very nice.

How are the highs? Do you find the GS1000s a little hot up top? Do the PS1000s differ in this department?

How is the fun factor?

It's been discussed quite a bit in another PS-1000 thread. I don't want to dirty this thread up, but I share your shock about the box. John isn't dumb though - if the sound is good, no one will care what they come in. I understand his business sense even though it seems crazy that you get the same packaging with a $1,700 headphone as you do with a medium $15 pizza.

I'd imagine burn in will take some time, so I guess we'll have to wait. I'm all of a sudden excited about this new Grado
