What is the dissimilarity between Windows 7 RC & RTM variation in terms of services that they provide?

What is the distinction between Windows 7 RC & RTM portrayal in terms of services that they provide?
There are some software for example of TrueCrypt that I have tested that can be installed into Windows 7 RC variety, but cannot be installed into Windows 7 RTM version. I for to grasp what is the change between these 2 account, in terms of their services and or another other factors that can attribute to such an wrongdoing in the installation of TrueCrypt in Windows 7 RTM version. Can anyone help? Thank you!

DC-30 Power Supply

I finally received my DC-30 and installed it after taking out the uneeded parts. From the moment I pushed play the improvements were right there laid out in front of me, there was no straining to hear the differences. What struck me right away was the finesse and refinement, I don't think there's an area that's not improved. The DC-30 takes this dac to a whole new level and IMO it's a must have if you own a Valab or Teradak.

Bill, thanks for posting the DC-30 installation pictures and notes on Picassa, they made the installation a fun experience.

Live at Tony's

Just returned from my trip to Tony's place in Albuquerque, his system was totally "on song", audio systems don't sound much finer than his. Job well done Tony!

We started out by comparing Valab DAC's, we both are using the DC-30 power supply with 47uf Blackgate FK's soldered directly to each DAC chip and SSOM. The main difference is he's using 4.7uf copper Dueland VSF caps, while I'm using the 4.7uf NG Jupiter’s with .22 bypasses. First thing we did was remove the .22 bypass caps as they were obviously not an improvement with the cryo’d Jupiter’s. In short order it was also clear that the Dueland caps where in a whole different league, delivering global atmosphere to the soundstage that the Jupiter's only hinted at. This was not a small difference!!!

For example we were doing a little Joe Pass Live at Yoshi's and this song starts out real slow with this incredible low level room vibe. With a closer listen we hear that it is being laid down by a really subtle bass line. When we switch to the Jupiter DAC the atmosphere and the bass line vanished, I mean it was not even there. Ok later we found it buried in a in a zone of energy towards the center of the soundstage. Once discovered this theme resonated through the whole listening session. The Jupiter's soundstage being very open, 3D and musical, yet emanating from a central area then radiating outwards bold and dynamic with nice transparent highs. While the Duelands presented this ultra 3D, wide open soundstage which simply filled the room with atmosphere, each instrument hanging in its own space in time. No particular place to go if you get my drift … Le’ Natural. Fantastic! As I said in a league of its own.

This was not what I was expecting, nor ever thought possible from just a capacitor. Of course it also took Tony's finely tuned system to deliver these results. With the lights dimmed the only thing I could hear was music. There were no amps, no speakers ... just music. I can count on one hand the systems I heard that are capable of that feet. Bravo Tony!

Room for improvement, well that proved to be quite a stretch but we finally got my Mac Mini, Amarra & Empirical Off Ramp with Utlraclock on the scene the next day. Listening once again to Joe Pass revealed the same wonderful soundstage and atmosphere but everything had just a tad more focus. Like you grabbed a camera lens and just dialed the scene in perfectly. The main thing this ultra low jitter source (or whatever the hell is really going on) delivers is an even further level of realism. Like the Duelands, once tasted … hard to deny.

As I said in an earlier post it would probably come as a total shock how different our modded DAC's actually sound. You can trust me on this one; no one was more surprised than I. (Where’s that 20% off sale at Parts Connection when you need it)!

The final night we headed downtown for some fresh IPA and live Jazz. Nice!

Thanks again for the hospitality Tony, it was a real eye … er, ear opener.

whoa... managed to skim thru last 10 pages or so, and to be honest I am a bit overwhelmed to put it nicely

I have basic soldering abilities, but probably can't handle SMT yet (don't even have proper tools for that anyway). Wonder if I could get that DC30 mod done? For starters, I just want to start out with the "big three" as Bill puts it:

Quote:
For the Valab DAC itself the 3 big ones are the coupling caps, power supply, and now thanks to Pat, the input transformer on the coax digital. Change these 3 items and you Valab DAC will take a major step forward no matter what system you put it in.
Since I plan on using USB almost exclusively, possibly TOSLINK (only if better), can I skip the third one from that list?

Either way, the first thing would be to order the DAC from VALab. If I plan on moving onto DC30, there would be no point in getting the 'luxury' version over the regular one, correct? Would this still be where I should order DC30?

TIA everyone, have fun modding and enjoy your music!

Point taken, but DC30 must be purchase separately right? The reason I am asking is the one that comes with 'luxury' version also happens to be 30W. Should I just go go ahead and get the regular version?

The luxury version it is, then. This is to serve as a guiding post to other clueless souls like me drifting into this thread : PatOMalley highly recommends you the 'luxury version', the difference is worth it!

PatOMalley recommends - Too funny.

There was a small group of early adopters who all had positive experiences with the PSU. Now each new user seems to see the same results we did. All good. And with the 'luxury', no soldering needed.
