Nice, gives you lots of options. So what kind of music styles do you play?

No.

Well, mostly rock I guess. Usually I end up playing and improvising along with some tunes of Joe Satriani, sometimes Mark Knopfler, Santana, Neil Young etc... I like a lot of different music though, but when playing it goes along those lines generally...

Satriani has been my biggest inspiration by far ever since I heard his album Surfing With The Alien many years ago. His musical understanding and feeling is just unbelievable.

Yes Satriani is fantastic, I play some of his easier stuff too (crying, starry night etc.). I play alot of Mark Knopfler/Dire Straits, CCR, Nirvana, and fo the rest just whatever comes along my path. I'm working on alot of blues now, with that fantasic scale and those licks, I love the sounds.

That is a nice album.

Happy listening!

What a coincidence. I love pie too.

Agreed! It is a serious pain to try to dig through those giant threads for little bits of useful information where actual owners/listeners are providing impressions.

Yeah, but when the new one starts, it will quickly become the same way. It would be helpful if there was some extra level of filtering available. I think it would be nice if there were boxes to tick when submitting posts to identify the content. Options could include things like "owners impressions", "meet/store demo impressions", "comments", "joke", "off topic", etc. Instead of just searching a thread for keywords. I can use a filter function to show only "owners impressions" and skip all the commentary and side-bars.

Would this be too difficult to implement? Are there other forums like this that use such a system?

I started this thread and am sorry I did. I honestly thought that I might have gained and shared some good information with fellow head-fiers. Instead it's turned into a circus. If I could delete it I would. Next time I'll wait for good information from a reputable source. Ignorance is supposed to be bliss. In this case it has been painful. I apologize for my part in making this the worst thread that I have seen on head-fi.

I am sorry you started this thread too.

So we can agree to agree. Fascinating.

Look on the brightside, you may have learned something of guitars.

What's amazing about that? Nobody has yet to hear both the HD800 and PS-1000. The OP wants comparisons. Nobody can give comparisons at this point. The only way we could stay on topic would be to have a dialogue as follows:

"I don't think anyone has heard both of these headphones yet, so this thread is probably a bit premature."

"That's true. More people have heard the HD800 than the PS-1000."

"Ya, too early for comparisons."

"I've heard the HD800, but not the PS-1000, so I can't really say."

"I haven't heard either, but I've read a lot about both. Of course, that doesn't count, so I guess I'll have to wait just like everyone else."

"Me too. I'm in the same boat. I sure do (don't) like the looks of the HD800/PS-1000. But I guess that doesn't matter either."

"That's right, I'm only interested in the sound." (<--- OP jumping back in.)

"Hey, you know... it's amazing! Despite the fact that there is nothing for us to talk about, at least we've managed to stay on topic! That much should please someone."

So, I can see your point. If this thread had gone in that direction, it would be a whole lot more interesting and useful.

...

Anyway, I think I'll close this thread for now. That way, when there are real comparisons to be offered by those who have heard both of these (supposedly) fine headphones, a new thread (or eleventy-seven threads) can be started on the matter. Until then, happy waiting everyone...
