ipod touch with upsampling usb dac amp

Newbie question: could an Ipod Touch work with the Pico Upsampling USB DAC amp? I don't own a Touch at present, but I'm thinking of buying one, using the pico usb upsampling amp as an adjunct. (On occasion I would like to use the Ipod Touch with pico dac upsampling amp to drive a larger amp, in turn pushing loudspeakers).

I confess I don't understand how is it the the amp accesses the digital output in a normal computer via usb --independent, evidently, of software. Any explanation about that would be welcome.

If this question is way elementary for this forum, apologies and perhaps someone could give a URL of some basic information.

You should post in the Pico DAC/Amp thread (also in this forum, a few lines below this one atm); this one is for the DAC-only pico, which isn't what you're looking for. To answer your question, yes, the DAC/Amp pico will work with an Ipod touch. You plug your ipod into one of the 3.5mm jacks on the front of the pico, and plug your headphones into the other one. If you want to use it with your computer, you plug a USB cable into the back of the pico, and plug your headphones into the 3.5mm output jack. To run a signal to another amp, you'd need a 3.5mm stereo-to-RCA adapter cable.

The USB DAC part of the Pico has nothing to do with using it with your iPod; that part of the device is only used if you plug the Pico into your computer's USB port. I would suggest that if you never plan on plugging your Pico into your computer, you go for the amp-only version of the Pico, which has no USB port, but will fulfill all the purposes you mentioned in your post (ipod->pico->headphones, and ipod->pico->amp->speakers/headphones). I admit its a bit confusing with an amp-only, DAC-only, and amp/DAC pico

As for how the USB part of the Pico works... its majik Welcome to Head-fi, sorry about your wallet!

JUSTIN !!

I was looking at the mock-up photos again and worried about the RCA outputs having a too tight gap space between the RCA plug and case, which might make it tight for some high-end interconnect plugs to fit through the gap. Can you confirm that it's not a perfect scale mockup photo, and that it wont actually be too tight for some of the more popular high-end RCA plugs to fit?

Thanks!

Measuring the prototype I confirm this. Sounding excellent as expected after 20+ hours of listening.

Sorry, but I am asking about the space between a single RCA jack and the hole in the case case surrounding the jack looks small. If the RCA is recessed at all, then some plugs can't be attached if there isn't clearance. For instance, with my old Koss ESP950, the RCA jacks were recessed and none of my high end cables could plug into it because the round hole in the case was too close to the plug.
