Man, I want one of these, but I've just committed to something a lot more expensive... =(

Does it provide any sonic improvement over Pico DAC/AMP used in DAC configuration, if yes, how big it is?

Thanks

When I compared the Proto to my DAC/Amp unit, they were almost identical. Maybe the very, very slightest bit smoother with the DAC only, but there are lots of variables that could have contributed to that. For all practical purposes, I think they sound they same. Which is to say, excellent.

Just my $.02.

One in black to the UK please

COLOR: Black
USB Mini-B cable @ 6 feet
COUNTRY = USA

Justin, Let me know if a black body with silver front and back is possible. I think it is a $20.00 charge. It doesn't mean enough to me to hold up getting one. If that is the case, all black is fine. Also, is there any degradation to quality as a result of a 6' cable?

I mostly want the DAC only so I never have to charge it.

I'm going to go with a Pico instead.

Technically, the original Pico's DAC doesn't use the battery, so it never needs charging. Except the analog output needs power. So, without it you can't hear anything.

I ask Justin this exact question and he told me that I would find it very difficult to tell the difference between them. But this has not stopped me from getting both...I have a use for the DAC without the amp so for the price I can't do better.

Hi Justin,

Sorry. Went for something else.

Good luck
