Fiio E5 headphone jack went bad

I bought a Fiio E5 last December. It worked well up until yesterday, when the headphone jack became intermittent. I have to jiggle the plug or the left channel cuts out. (I tried it with four pairs of phones, same thing.)

So I sent it back for a warranty replacement. I recall when I first got it that the headphone jack felt stiff like it took more force to insert the plug than in, say, an iPod.

Anyone else had the headphone jack on their E5 go bad?

I just wanted to follow upon this. I sent the E5 back to Head-direct, and they sent me a warranty replacement, no problem at all. My old E5 had a manufacture date from sometime in November, 2008, and the new one was manufactured on February 21, 2009.

The old one had jacks that were quite stiff to insert the plugs into. It felt almost as though something was being stressed past its yield point. Eventually it failed, and the left channel became intermittent; I had to jiggle the cable to get the left channel to work. The new one has jacks that don't feel as tight, but feel kind of "notchy" as I insert the plugs, so maybe the jack design has changed a little since the earlier E5s. Who knows?

But anyway, a tip of the hat to Head-direct for their fast and excellent warranty service.

Dealextreme is quite good with solving issues. Did you contact them about this? I would think you will have no problems getting another one...

My first one did the same thing, or at least behaved the same way once. No sound output at all, even though the battery was charged. I let it discharge and recharged it, and that fixed it.
