i think Richter-Di just want some acknowledgement of all the work he had done in the original K1000 compilation thread, which krmathis has now done with the below.

^ Nice to hear that you find it useful!

Regarding portable headphone amp I am not really sure what you mean.
If you point to the Signature 30.2 it is indeed portable (or transportable). I will shoot some pictures of it outside, but not quite now since its 1 meter snow outside my door.

By the way...

I was browsing through the Full featured reviews again and noticed three K1000 reviews that aren't listed here.

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f13/co...-srm-1-a-2381/
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f13/re...ng-notes-1487/
http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f13/re...-cd3000-68078/

I still wonder why the subforum has been removed from use. It'd be still a brilliant idea.

^ Thanks!
Links added, together with this one: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f13/re...-k1000-218445/

The Featured Full Reviews of Headphone, Earphones, In-Ear Monitors forum seems all hidden from daylight, so no wonder I did not find it. Weird!

This is a gold mine....exactly what any K1000 fan would need. Thanks for the effort.

More interesting 'long-forgotten' threads have been found and linked to.
A couple threads from 2005, while the rest are from 2001-2004.

..also added some information about the matching K1000 Selector and the BAP 1000 Audiosphere

Nice reading if you have some spare time!

This resource thread is a prime example of Head-Fi at its best. Thank you, Kai! And thank you too, Richter, for the original K1000 resource thread.

It's such a pity that this model is discontinued. Isn't all the recent action at the $1-1.5k level proof that there's a market for something like this? I never had the chance to try it out, but wish I did.

Nice to hear that you guys find it useful!

Its a shame that AKG decided to drop the K1000. But I am sure they had their reasons. Probably because the machines used to produce them were worn out after 15 years and ~11,000 units, and the fact that they were much less popular back then.

What I hope is that AKG see the need to compete with the Sennheiser HD800, Grado PS1000, Ultrasone Edition 8, ... and either revive the K1000 or come up with a successor. I doubt it, but we can always wish!

I think at least a healthy chunk of the prices being paid is due to the rarity and collector aspect.

There's more than 12,000 of them. Doesn't even compare as rare to the PS-1 (250 units) or the Qualia 010 or the L3000 (500+50 units).

I'd consider it possible that there are more K1000s out there than SR-007 Mk.1

Only about 300 Qualias ever made -- certainly less than 500. Probably less than 400 SR-Omegas too (again, definitely less than 500).
