Skullcandy Headphones broke, can get a free upgrade to better ones

To cut it short:

My Skullcandy FMJ's broke for the 3rd time(right speaker quieter than the left) and I sent an email to Skullcandy how dissapointed I am with them. They offered to give me a free upgrade to another headphone. Anyone who has experience with Skullcandy know what they make is better than the FMJ's?

Thanks

Getting a refund and buying better earphones >.>

so, you could return them or get a free upgrade. for the price, i could keep with the headfi spirit and lambast skullcandy for being such a rubbish piece or i could ask: did you like them other than their obvious weakness? are you treating your headphones well or are you really being violent?

hopefully, it is the first and that that particular pair just broke. skullcandy sound very nice to replace your headphones with an upgrade to a different headphone but i think that will not be a popular choice on these forums.

here we don't respect skullcandy for bringing headphones into the mainstream. we would prefer to have our little world closeted off so that our murmurs can be directed at the unknowing public. the more aware they become, the less we will have to feel proud of.

that said, if you are fed up with them, ask if they will refund or demand it and get something else. there are not very many good options for headphones in the cheap category. koss ksc series are good, senn px are excellent but for the cost of skull candies, you will be hard put to find real quality. that comes after a few more bucks.

Well I've had the headphones for over a year. There good headphones for typically what I had in the past but eventually I will enter the audiophile market...when I have the $ for it and when I do enter it I would probobly get the best ones money can buy.

My friend originally reccomended me the skullcandies calling them the best hes heard, that is until he got these: Amazon.com: Triple.fi 10 Pro Earphones: Electronics

Thats beside the point, they are decent headphones but the mids could be better. I've had 2 pairs of these before that got replaced. I use them with my iPod touch and they are often in my jacket pocket with it. I dont abuse them by cranking the volume as high as it can get or let my cat nibble on the cord.

Im aware of the reputation that skullcandy has here(I remember someone referenced FMJ's as dollar store drivers in tin cans) but I didnt know about this site prior to buying them.

I suggest trying a different brand. Koss KSC75 or the Porta Pro is cheap, but still bang for buck

So get the free upgrade, then sell it to fund your KCS75

has the portapro been around since the 80s? I know its good but i heard it was really old...

Get a refund and buy either the Grado SR-60 or the Sony MDR-V6. Either will make you very happy.

i had similar issue with creative HQ1400 headphones..all these consumer level headphones break easily..thats one reason i bought sennheisers..really tuff.
get rid of skullcandy..if they dont refund then get replacement n sell it off for whatever..and get some real headphones..

how much are they anyway?

return them, trust me.

1. get a refund
2. come back to this site
3. post a "what to buy?" thread
4. buy what was recommended
5. get addicted to this place and start your journey =)

i'll leave the Skullcandy slagging to others. For me the issue is that they keep on failing. once o.k., twice maybe, but three times??? try the upgrade if you want, and if they fail, then you should look at another brand.

I've bought the lowriders, to see want the fuss is about, and i got to try my friends skullcrushers for the afternon, oh and Jane (below wearing my 205's) let me have a go on her skullcandy DJ (can't remember which model) headphones. that's the sum total of my skullcandy experience.

+1 of getting a full refund.
Then give your money on a 'phone from a different (more regarded/higher quality) company.

get the most expensive upgrade you can milk them for... then turn around and sell it.

then proceed to use the money to buy some non-skullcandies since they seem to keep breaking (and you could get something better for the price)
