Let's get passed this last disturbance and talk about HeadRoom's new CEO for a bit.
You can't get a much more different person than I, and that probably accrues to the plus side in this case. I really like Travis.
He's a thirty-something, Harvard MBA, with goodly experience in small to medium manufacturing and as a CEO.
So far, so good.
He comes into this situation and got right to business: cost cutting.
I need to take a moment here to recognize the fact that the economy is in crisis at the moment, and everybody on the globe is staring down the barrel of a gun. If HeadRoom's ownership had done nothing at all, I' would have been having to make horrific cuts myself.
In fact, I already had. Between October and December I had already laid off thee people and take an over 20% personal pay cut, and I knew that was just the introduction.
Travis got to work identifying all cost that could be cut, and toggled everyone for ways to plug any and all holes. He also immediately developed a picture of a skeletal team that move the company forward, and released the folks who could be without damaging the corporate mission.
You hear of numbers like 750,000 jobs lost per month these days. Having seen 8 go myself, before my very eyes, I can't hardly imagine the difficulties many have to overcome these days. I can only hope we all have the backbone to do the work needed to pull the US and the world out of this hole without too much more pain and suffering.
Gone are Andrew, Sten, Debbie, Lori, Tara, Andi, Joe, and Jeanne. But Ivy, Roz, Jorge, Jeremy, Ben, Mike, Mario, Trav (different one), Matt, Susan, and myself with Travis remain. You may notice, if you've been around a long time, that you'll recognise many of the names of those who remain. That's because Travis recognised the amazing strength of culture in customer service we have here and made sure to keep all the folks that are critical to our ability to serve our customers.
I would have done it differently than Travis, but I have to tell you, I think he did it better. Thanks, man.

He also recognised immediately that one of our greatest assets was our web site. We get 6000 unique visitors a day! His first major objective has been to focus very tightly on improving the ability of our web site to bring people into the headphone world, and get them out the other side with a satisfying pair of cans in their hands.
A lot of what I've been working on lately is copy for the website changes, and I'm very excited to tell you that you'll see some stuff SHORTLY. Maybe even within the next week. I don't think I've ever gotten anything done that fast.
Lastly, even though it's gonna cost some dough, he's let the incoming introduction of a couple of new products carry on. We (Ivy, Jorge, Mario, and I) have been saying the new products need to appear, and Travis has been willing to finance that. You'll hear more about this too, shortly, but I'd have to kill you if I said too much now.
All in all, I've got to say that while I don't see HeadRoom as such a personal adventure anymore, I do see it as more likely succeeding both in the current economic insanity, and in delivering value to my owners share down the road.
So, yeah, my baby has be wrenched from my womb, and I've suffered a bit of postpartum depression, but isn't that just the nature of things?
I can only say I'm surprisingly content with my dream job, and I can't wait for CanJam---and the economy---to come around so I can spend more time out there toe to toe with youz guyz.
Alrightythen, this is a great time for you to make ANY comment you'd like about HeadRoom, what I've done, what you'd like to see us do, what you'd like to say to Travis, or me.
Please feel free, just don't make me laugh too hard, I don't want to blow out my brand new belly button.
