Audio-Technica ATH-ON3 @ Focalprice, genuine? - Page 2

well a short impression:
soundstage is less than the Phonak.
not really wide
treble is slightly recessed.
bass is not heavy, it is detailled
voices are not detailled like the Phonak
but I prefer the sound of these over the Soundmagic PL-30.

btw, I don't have much experiences with headphone's, I do have with IEMs
so don't take this impression too serious

will post some pics later

--edit--
for the price it's a steal IMHO.
I'm enjoying it more and more.

but I won't walk with those on the street. looks ridicilous with me :')

Can I ask what makes you think they are fake?

I bought the black ones from Audiocubes some time ago and thought they sounded crappy, so these might not be fake.

and it didn't came in a box, just some plastic

You mean white cups, black pads?
Anyhow, it looks like a great headphone for the price

please don't mind my hair, just came back from sporting :P (Krav maga)

there's some space in it, the cable can move..

By the way, bonthouse also bought them right ?
wait for his opinion on it before pulling the trigger.
I'm just a newb

Nice. I like that thin headband. It will blend in well with those with dark coloured hair. For fakes they do look good, though I can see obvious signs of shoddy QC (excess glue).

Those are definitely fake if they didn't come in the official packaging. I wonder how the fake ones and real one's compare. I just ordered one from Japan, and they go for about 20~25 Dollars retail.

I also found this ebay thread with pictures comparing fake to real: HERE
post #26 of 55
well, mine has the L2 and R2 markings, and they have the screws on the right side
post #27 of 55
fakes might sometimes sound better than the gens but tend to break fairly quickly
then again it's only 12$

are they comfortable enough to fall asleep with
post #28 of 55
Well now that I read through that ebay post, it seems that the seller is based out of HK. So, in all his pictures, he may actually be selling fakes and posting pic's stating that the fakes are the real's! I don't know what to believe anymore!

But I feel the most suspicious thing is that they come without the retail packaging.

Edit: Uh oh, another ebay posting that posts screenshots that seem to oppose the previous one's proof of real/fake: Here

I should really ignore what people say on ebay posts. It's the first lesson in ebay101. I am such a newbie at this.

beleive your ears
if you like them then you bought 12$ headphones you can enjoy
post #30 of 55
I guess that's true, but we may give bad recommendations to other people when they ask our opinion or listen to these. You may downplay the importance of this because of price also. I wouldn't want to get an 90 dollar pair of es7's to find out that they're fake. I was set out to get a deal on a real set. I don't think I'm over reacting am I?
