But thanks anyway ! I will now first wait for two Sylvania 6DJ8 as Skylab suggested and I do get some ECC88 Philips Holland NOS 1975. Both lots should arrive next week. I will post the results.

I have to admit that my chinese is really bad (if not to say non existent ).

NT$ is taiwanese dollars, 5000 of those would be appr. 150US$. This is not too much I believe -. depends what you get for it - but I cannot judge from the text what I really would buy. Besides, as stated before two new pairs of driver tubes are coming next week, I decided to test those first.

But I thank you again for this recommendation. An alternative source for tubes, too (well the chinese language....)

Reporting day 4: Optimizing the power situation further and trying new GAS7GA

Burn in time so far: approx. 38 hours (about 67h for the Senns)

The new 6AS7GA did arrive (1960 NOS) and I swapped the 7236 with a new 6AS7GA. Although this tube is very most probably from a different production lot as the original supplied with the amp, the hum previously noted was immediately back (see reporting day 1 & 2).

This leads me to think that this type of tube is generally producing a faint hum with the WA3+, at least with the one I have. However, I would have to say that the hum is faint and is not disturbing as soon as the music sets in. But in pauses the hum may be noticed.

Putting the Cetron 7236 back the hum immediately vanishes. And checking its musical performance again in comparison, I have to conclude that the 7236 Cetron is superior, too. So the 7236 stays in place. And on top, the 7236 emits a much more beautiful strong tube glow. The tube is higher than the 6AS7GA, too. Not only better sounding - looking better too.

So based on my limited experience I would now dare to recommend to exchange the stock GAS7GA with a 7236 tube in a WA3+.

I manufactured a new power cord for my source then. Since it has only two poles, swapping the power phase from one side to the other is easy, too - just by twisting the connector on the wall outlet. I noticed that one position is superior to the other and it stays now that way.

Next week, new driver tubes will arrive and then the experimentation will go on. Of course I'll let you know about the results.

Very well spotted ! Indeed there is an item which does not fit the scene. As you may have already noticed, it is of course item 3 The source does not live up to the standards of the amp.

If you only knew what MooBin - or better "moo bin" means. That should explain the other context further. Look at the avatar, too.

Skylab, I'll try when I have the chance. Now I have 3 different tubes (all 6AS7G) of where 2 make the WA3+ hum exactly in the same fashion. I did not try the last one, though.

By the way while we are at it: If your had three pairs of 6DJ8 on offer which tested as follows - which one would you prefer ?

Pair A) 112/115 , 114/116
Pair B) 110/110 , 108/110
Pair C) 109/109 , 105/107

I do not even know what these numbers mean but they most probably make some sense to someone knowledgeable about the subject like you.
