Pro 750 and Pro 900 compare and contrast

Thread Starter
I have yet to find much really concise information comparing and contrasting the 750 and 900. Tech specs are *similar*.

UltraPaul, care to chime in on the actual differences / upgrade that the 900 offer? Both have what appear to be the same drivers, but with different quoted frequency response. Are the drivers different?

Others, care to chime in on differences between the two, and why you might prefer one over the other? Ideally from folks who have actually heard both enough to compare them?

oqvist chimed in here:

Otherwise, the thread seems to dwell on price difference.

I would love some additional confirming or contrasting opinions.

Thank you!

I own both, the PRO 900 is currently in that funky period where it doesn't sound quite right, gotta be an Ultrasone only thing. 750's are well broken in and sound pretty good to me.
I still go back to the Denon 2k's when I've had enough.
First impression of the 900's where that they could eventually take the 750's throne, just a tad better at soundstaging, a little bit more forward.

I am looking at V4 Darths just to get a deeper cup and better pads. The 750 and 2500 need to get some options out for these two models. My 2500 is ok but the pads could certainly be thicker and the cups larger. Doesn't really bother me unless i have them on for several hours consecutively.

If the 900 has deeper cups and fatter pads, that would do nicely for me. Half the price of a V4 helps. I like the 2500/750 sound just fine.

Yes the PRO 900 cups is definiatly a bit larger than the Proline 750. Now I didn´t have much problems with the 750 and definiatly none with the 900 either. Well I had some the first weeks on the 750 before the earpads and ears adapted I suppose.

Said it before but can´t really do a a and b comparison since I sold my 750s a while ago but I like the 900 even better. I like them a lot with stock but KeeS modded them makes them just so much more balanced and without the mega bass less fatiguing. Same problem with 750 maybe slightly worse is that on sibilance ridden tracks they seem to do everything to enhance the problem. If you liked the 750 you should get this definiatly unless a slightly warmer sound bothers you . They are even smoother sounding than the 750s.

Good to see this thread

so is the Pro 900 a bigger upgrade than the 750? if Ultrasone made something in between the Edition 8 and Pro 900... i would probably get that :P

A question for UltraPaul regarding the topic of this thread

UltraPaul,
In terms of actual and practical application, what was the intended purpose for the Pro 900 when compared to the intended purpose of the Pro 750? As you know, I own and use professionally the Pro 750. I know that the intended purpose of both the Pro 900 and Pro 750 is for audio production situations. Of course, the listener may use them for personal enjoyment as well. In the setting of professional use (in production situations), what was the idea behind the creation of the 900 as opposed to the 750? Is the answer to my question simply that one is designed to be an improvement over the other or was there actually an idea pertaining to some type of application (within a studio audio production situation) where one of them was actually supposed to be better for a particular application?
Thank you.
