very nice pricing ... new RS1's for $545 ...almost the same as used. Wonder if they are losing some market share with the so-so sales?

Wow, very good prices. Great time for people to buy!

They might be losing their distributorship, as well. Grado usually takes a hard line with the MSRP.

Finally... this is awesome!

Wow!...200.00 off the GS1K!

I had an email from a Canadian Grado dealer last week offering a similar discount on the old line. Apparently the "enhanced" lineup is out soon and these prices are for the discontinued models. Expect that RS1i any day now -- or not.

Damnit, I'm soo pissed. I got the GS1000 and RS1 like less then a month ago, and now they are going on discount!! I hate grado.

Quick question!! I asked on the SR80 Appreciation thread but no one answered..

I'm currently using ESW9s as my primary phone, but I'm looking for something that'll add a bit more energy and punch to the electropop/indie dance music that I listen to (9s are sometimes too laid-back for this). I'm not looking to replace them, just want something else for variety.

SR80s good for this? I would like to jump on this sale while it's still going on and get a pair on the cheap but I (obviously) don't want to buy something that won't fit my needs..

Thanks!!

Does the term "old line" include RS1/2 and GS1000? do they offer you discount on those??

If so, does anybody think Grado is updating RS1/2 and GS1000 too? how about Alessandro?

I'm so tempted

Man! New RS-1's for $545......I think I may need to see a priest. Temptation like this is surely the work of the devil

Yes, it was the RS1 that was the subject of the email. The GS1000 was not mentioned.

I have no idea what the "new model" Grados might be like or how they've been improved, if at all. I've seen some limited info having to do with driver changes and cable upgrades but again, nothing from Grado HQ so far as I could tell.

I think that I saw one of the "new" RS-1s at J&R in new york last week. They had just come in that day and they opened the box for me to listen. The only changes that I saw were cylindrical "antennae" instead of square ones and a much thicker cable than the old rs-1. Don't know about the sound, as it is too difficult to evaluate past a very basic level in such an environment

Thanks for the info -- there have been a few posts concerning the "antennae" and cable changes but no extended listening comparisons I could find. I'm a fan of the old-school square rods so not enthused about this change.

best,
