And their sound, personally, never fatigues my ears. I can and have listened to them for a full 8 hours while doing work, many times.

And they definitely don't need an Amp to sound great. But just cause they don't need doesn't mean they won't sound INCREDIBLE with a good DAC and Amp. AD900 has been my trustworthy cans for 3 years now, gaming, movies, and music. My musical collection ranges from Clapton Blues, George Winston solo Piano, Crystal Method Trance, to Seven Dust/Godsmack metal. And I love all my music through these babies.

But I have decided to get myself a HD650 though in about 1-2 months time, save up, as I will recable them with a DIY cable+Furutech Plug!

I have a couple more questions:

How cheap do you think I can get a K501 for? It seems some people jacked the price, because it's hard to find.

Is the K702 any different than the K701 besides its color, or is it a fake?

I might just get the compass now, and order cans from J&R so I can return them.

EDIT: Also, isn't the compass a DAC, or is it a combo?

If Reptile can face off an entire team by himself with one medic support in TF2 with his crummy sponsored headphones, well, why on earth do you think K701 will improve your game play?

Just learn to have faster reflexes and reaction time, and well play a ton until everything is automatic.

As for insulting the phones with mp3s. Yeah, I'm completely confident you wouldn't be able to distinguish a quality 256 kbps mp3 and a CD.

- When you can play like him, then you can argue about whether K701 or HD650 will give you an edge in gaming. Gaming, usually you're either good or you suck, headphones won't make the difference. It's Learn To Play, or just accept that you suck.
Not needed, but advised. If you are a pro gamer, where you making money by winning tournaments, you want any edge possible. Spending 200 for a used 701 would be a smart move.. No one is saying good headphones will make you a world beater, nothing beats practice and being gifted (The truly elite gamers), but if a good can can increase your K/D ratio by 10% or more, I'm sure a pro gamer would jump at the opportunity.

Not press multi quote thingy, so sue me.

K702 isn't fake. The only difference is the color and that the K702 has a detachable cable, making it easier to upgrade.

It's not always about making gaming easier. A lot of people are looking for headphones that enhance the experience, making it sound more real and thus drawing you in more.
