I agree, i can't see how the £99 Bose would be a competitor for a pair of sub £250 pair of IEM's or why someone would want to make that comparison? But that's a discussion for another time and place!

Haha well the Re0's are $79 now and I bet people would make the comparison. (I'm actually going to get these ie8s to compare with my own re0s.) but I'd agree that there is probably no comparison between the Bose triports and the sennys. I think he might mean a pair of Bose full sizes headphones but I'm not sure.

I'm slightly reassures by the fact that it's an open bid and not 'buy it now.' but the bidding seems very low ATM and I'm worries people are staying away because they can tell it is fake. Is there something I'm missing?

(sorry for those who have no idea what I'm talknig about I have another overly long post on the previous page of this thread haha)

Fake Sennheiser Pics from Sarjo Amazon!

Hi,

I purchased a Sennheiser IE8 from Sarjo Wholesale and the order was fulfilled by Amazon. At that time I had not read this thread but after reading it I was sure that I would receive a fake Sennheiser and I did! I have attached pics for everyone to see. I paid $290 for it. Luckily since it was fulfilled by Amazon they have an easy return policy. There were three big give aways which I request everyone to check (I do not have a real IE8 for comparison but I am sure there is no way the real one has these flaws).

1. Flaw one - build quality of the cable
The minute I removed the earphone in my hand I knew these were a fake. The cables are poorer in quality than my old CX300. There is no way Sennheiser (specially Sennheiser) would use such a cheap cable.

2. Second Flaw - When I when to insert the plug into the player I noticed that the silver part of the 3.5mm plug looked as if it had some moisture on it. It wasn't spotless and shiny but looked as if it had been cleaned before. ALso the plug just felt cheap!

Here is where I knew something was wrong. I use the Sony X series player and when I inserted the plug of the IE8 I heard a scracthing noise, as if the plug was not making proper contact with the MP3 player. When I rotataed the plug it kept adding the static noise. There is once again no way Sennheiser would use such a cheap plug on their flagship earphone.

3. The bass knob - when I tried to adjust the knob it had a horrible cheap feel to it. I haven't tried tuning a real IE8 but the knob didnt rotate smoothly or click smoothly. It was as if it was just falling around.

The sound - the earphone sounded horrible. The sound was absolutely muddy with the highs totally rolled off. The bass was just a boom in the background. Sounded like a $10 earphone.

I hope this helps people - Sarjo Wholesale on Amazon sells fake
Sennheiser IE8's and I would not buy any other earphone from them.

I just vomited in my mouth... I wish I would've read this thread before buying! I did exactly what you did, bought from Sarjo Wholesale fulfilled by amazon.com -- which I guess gave me false peace of mind since I figured amazon was listed as an authorized dealer on sennheiserusa.com. So did you just return the fakes and leave it at that? Or did you leave negative feedback or forward the issue direct with Sarjo?

Don't be paranoid...

I Posted earlier thinking that my Sarjo-ordered Senns were fake, but I was being paranoid because of the post above. Actually, after more extensive comparisons to the pictures of the fakes, these are the real thing. To respond to the above post, are you sure you aren't being paranoid? The sound is a little boomy at first, but that is how these start out of the box. The detail is vivid and the soundstage is huge. That is the first givaway of the real thing. Also, I noticed in the above picture that the Sennheiser logo on the phones looks legit. There isn't a "moat" around the logo, and the lines almost touch the "S". To respond to the crackly plug, that is just the way these are made (also can be read in many, many other reviews online from reputable sources. It is not a gold-plated plug, so there is contact noise. But all are like this. I think you should not send them back just yet unless you are absolutely sure they're fakes. It is always better to order from authorized dealers, but Sarjo sent me real ones for $288.

Hi,
I'm new to Head-fi and just wanted to let you all know of an ebay seller selling fake Sennheiser IE8's. I purchased this item last week only to find that when it arrived that it was not only FAKE but missing the metal carry case and the right ear bud was not working! I have raised a dispute about this seller, but they still continue to sell both fake IE8's and also IE7's. Buyer beware please!

Please email Sennheiser with your findings. Take some pictures etc.

@ sberamji: that is very concerning, as on the pictures you show, they really look like real ones! Geeze, they even reduced the design differences between the real and the fake ones! It becomes more and more difficult to see whether they are real or fakes :s

The thiing is, that fakes by their very nature are inconsistant. I always buy fakes;

1) to highlight to uunsuspecting people, that the seller is selling fakes, via giving negative feedback.

2) To highlight the virtues of the 'Genuine' headphones, not the fakes.

Fakes change so much. some look the business, others don't. some sound rubbish, some sound even worse.

@captian73, I didn't take any photos, I sent them straight back to the seller and am awaiting my refund. I was asked by the seller when telling him that they were fake that he would only give me half of the purchase price back for the fake IE8's because I left negative feedback on ebay about the product! He then proceeded to bribe me by saying that he would give me back my full refund only if I changed my negative feedback! I then lodged a dispute via Paypal!

good luck with that. I'm getting hounded by ismart100 to give him good feedback.

Hopefully, you shoould get your money back. BTW ieverise86 kinda admitted to me that they were fake.

I just bought a pair of fakes from this site
Sennheiser IE8 Earphone

They are obviously fake the "S" logo looks cheaply made, the cable pops off super easily, they came with the wrong replacement tips (i.e. 3 mediums and no double flange), there's no carrying case, and most of all they sound like airplane headphones!!
