Chris Adler from Lamb Of God is pretty intense... especially on the "Ashes Of The Wake" album...

Antonio Sanchez "Migration"

Currently the best jazz drummer playing today IMHO.

This whole solo is great but check out at the 4:20 mark. Almost looks animated.

Contrary to what Amazon reports, this album was originally released on the early 60's

All of Dave Weckl's albums.

I just saw Alphonse Mouzon play with Larry Coryell and was most impressed.

Lenny White on Return to Forever

Tell you what, I found drums in the National's 'Boxer' so beautifully rendered, head and shoulder above their contemporary.

The mighty 'King Crimson' of the '70s is another great band with strong percussions.

x2 for Led Zeppelin IV

I could listen to an infinite loop of the first six seconds of "When the Levee Breaks". Led Zeppelin recorded that album in a 200+ year old work house in England. The house has a very sad history and is most definitely haunted (says Jimmy Page). The drums sound so amazing because Bonham's drum set was placed at the bottom of a four story stone stairwell. The microphone was placed a few levels up. That's why the drums in that song have that amazing resonating sound to them that no one is able to reproduce live.

After learning this, that song sounds so different to me now. When I listen to it I can feel myself in that stairwell with Bonzo. Very cool.

May take some effort to track down this CD, but Grant Collins's Dogboy is an exciting journey of jazz drumming and ethnic fusions
