To Clip or to Fuze?

Sorry, just wanted to tap your infinite audio knowledge!

Recently the 8Gb Sansa Clip and a 12Gb (8Gb+4Gb microSD) Fuze has come up in the UK for roughly the same price. I've been reading the post other forum members have made and would like to know which one would you choose?

I'm not really interested in spending a load on another DAP, I was just wondering because for 50 pounds both of them seem like a good steal considering the reviews they get from other forum members.

I've also heard about the Fuze being easier to scratch etc compared to the Clips.

Oh yea sorry I did a search but I couldn't really find anything about the two. Lack of search skills on my part sorry in advance if there is already another thread.

it is smaller, shares the same codec support and the fuze is not good for video: why go for the fuze? battery life is roughly the same as well. i think the size advantage that the clip has should be enough to hold anyone

Fuze has better GUI for music playback surely ?

+ extra capacity

makes it a no brainer for me

FUZE - and ordered one too

Get the Fuze if you don't care about size. It's expandable and easier to browse through music. Plus a DIY LOD has been developed for it.

If though the Fuze is much bigger than the Clip, the Fuze itself is pretty damn small to begin with. I would go with the Fuze for the expandability and the more colorful GUI and album art.

Clip is much better for working out though and it also has a standard mini USB plug.

has the clip have bookmark function at all?

Hmm thanks for the input guys, what is this diy LOD you speak of btw? Does this go well with an E3 or E5 fiio?

Where's the checkbox for "both" ?

^LOL true. I have an 8+8 Fuze but I want a Clip as a dedicated car player!

EDIT: BTW, I voted for Fuze for expandability and screen. And I like that it fits perfectly into my coin pocket, where the Clip is a little thick for that application.

by the way, i think dkft hinted today or yesterday: the clip at least is getting closer to a real release of rockbox!

Since Clip and Fuze share the same SoC, the release of Rockbox on Fuze shouldn't be that difficult after that of Clip. In any case, Rockbox is nice but it is not cure all and should be considered only when the user has a reason to get it. If you are happy about your Fuze, Rockbox or not shouldn't matter too much.

BTW, the thread of diyLOD is here.

for me, the reason i won't go for fuze or clip is no aac and no gapless. the battery life is also poor but i would use it as a shuffle replacement so im not too worried about battery!
