Ken, When you reach a point where you're taking some pictures of a production iPod Amphora, can you get and post its weight as well? -Thanks, Steve

Ordering Procedure

Hello Ken,

I think it would be desirable to clarify the ordering procedure.

I know a few of us are on the list but need to understand better the steps to get a Amphora. For example :-

1. Are we expected to pay a deposit to secure our slot in the queue ?

2. Should we write to you formally to confirm our commitment for one (and state the options we pick) ?

3. When are we expected to pay ?

4. Can we pick our "favorite" serial no. ?

5. What will be the shipment costs (to various regions outside North America) ?

6. What customisation is possible and should we spell that out at time of order ? [example : with or without engraving, esp. on the back, gain setting, type of input connectors (I like WBT RCA jacks a lot), and better looking feet etc.] I think that some easy to implement customisation will make the Amphora more special.

7. What warranty will you offer for the Amphora ? Is it transferable ?

8. What would be the price for an extra Li-ion rechargeable battery ?

Thanks,
F. Lo

That is outlined in post #32, just email me and indicate which you prefer, the standard version or ipod version. The ipod version will be $1245 and the standard $995. Payment is not needed to get on the list.

yes

3. When are we expected to pay ?
when the first batch is complete I will contact everyone on the list to give them the first chance to buy

I would rather not do that, if you have a preference for a number and it is available I can do that.

Express Mail is typically $38 - $45. Fedex is going to be more but its dependent on where you are. The box is going to have to be fairly large because we are shipping them in a box then in another box.

We think the Amphora's are special just the way they are, special enough. The Vampire RCAs are just as good as the WTBs. I would have trouble trying to customize these for people.

We are looking at a year but would have to double check with my Vinnie also before we get 100% on things like this. Also we are making a manual for the Amphora and the detail will be outlined.

They are $5 for an extra battery. There will also be some special interconnects made for the Amphora as well as several headphone deals that will be bundled in. I have not had time to get to all this just yet, trying to get this first batch out the door.

PS: Vinnie hop in here if I missed anything

Thanks

so no picture of the imod vesion. could you tell me how the dock is oriented so I have an idea what it will look like.

Is the dock going to hold the imod so it sticks up out of the suface or will it hold it flush to the surface.

hi slypher,

Ken will be taking pics of the iPod/iMod version soon. They are still building the enclosures. It has been more time consuming that Ken (and me) imagined, but they are work all the hard work.

The iPod dock will be on the top and the iPod will stick out of the surface (like the other ALO iPod/iMOd docks).

Best regards,

Vinnie

Hey Slypher,

The ipod version of the Amphora will use the white plastic Apple universal ipod adapter plates

You use the correct plate and just plug in your ipod/imod.

Yeah like Vinnie said I am pooped! Also I hate to report this but this first batch we are not going to fill all the requests for ipod versions. We only ended up with a few ipod versions this run. My CNC guy had some difficulties with this new universal ipod cut out and as a result we had to reject many the unfinished boxes. But we have plenty of the standard versions. I had my CNC guy make more ipod ones right away, but sadly they are in the build que and folks these are taking us much longer to get assembled. The good new is that we should have enough to fill all the Amphora standard (non ipod) versions as early as the end of the week or or early next week.

Again thanks for everyone patience!

Ken

The weights of the Amphora is approximately 1.8 pounds.

Thank you for posting that weight, Ken. It makes it easier for me to get started planning where and how I'll set it up when my name comes up on the Amphora buyer queue. The anticipation is just TOO delicious.

Here is what the Padauk Amphora with the optional ipod dock looks like. We are working hard on these now.

The docking well utilizes an ipod adapter plate.

I will have a lone Purple Hart Amphora (ipod version) at the local Portland Oregon Head-fi meet this weekend.

Looks great! I had my initial doubts about how it would look, but you guys have pulled it off.

By the way how's the first standard amphora batch coming along? I want one of these in my hands by the end of next week
