Micro DAC USB Hookup Query

I have one of the older, battery-option Micro DAC which has been serving me fine with a coaxial feed from my Squeezebox. I would also like to have the option of feeding and playing flac-encoded music to it directly from my laptop's hard drive through the laptop's USB port, i.e. a USB port to port hookup. I have tried this hookup (switching the Micro DAC's toggle from coax to USB appropriately) but I can't get any music to be fed to my DAC through this means. What possibly am I doing wrong?

If you have a Mac you may need to open up MIDI under applications and chose the USB Device as your digital sound output. For a PC I have no idea?

I unfortunately(?) have Windows XP, and what you describe doesn't seem an available option for me. Thanks anyway.

It's been a while since I've used XP but in Control Panel under Sound there should be an option that changes the default playback device.

There indeed is. However, on my laptop it gives only one option, that of Conexant AMC Audio. Can I change to another device if that's the only one listed? Many thanks.

Finally got it working through some help on another thread of this forum. I needed to have my Micro DAC turned on and connected USB to USB ports for the Micro to be recognized by my laptop and the appropriate USB Codec to then crop up and become available for use. Thanks again.
