Cowon S9 or iPod touch 2G?

Well simply, which offers the better SQ overall. I have an iPod touch 1st gen and it's to be honest a bit crap. I am going to save up and either buy a Cowon S9, or buy an iPod touch 2G. I will be using these unamped with some IE8's.

Note: Another option is to just wait till the 3rd gen iPod touch release (I'm hoping an OLED screen+dual core processer), wait for some reviews about SQ and consider that as an option. But the chances of having the same sound chip is quite likely.

the s9 has a sound very similar to the d2 according to anythingbutipod.com. check their threads. it still suffers from a tiny stage and separation and bad bass roll off but not as bad as the d2.

im sure the s9 is great if you really want it.

if you want gapless and better bass and channel separation then go for ipod but some don't like that sort of thing and prefer the cowon sound.

i hope the new 3g touch has the same sound processor and sound line as i love it. it has been my favourite portable for sound. i only wish it was a bit smaller but then... it would not be a touch and no good for movies (which i never watch!)

I think I will wait for the 3rd gen iPod touch and just hope they put an OLED screen and keep the same sound chip.
