Cowon S9 vs Sony X1000 - Page 2

yesh i like the look of the phone but iys better to go with a dedicated player, a phone is never going to match up to the SQ. I can live with the two being seperate anyway. oh i really starting to like the look of it now too, so differant from your standard black white or silver type electronics. its a bold move that some will whinge about but i say good on sony for trying somthing new, if it wasnt for them and their daring new products we wouldnt be at the stage we are at now with consumer electronics. CHEERS SONY

got my cowon today.

first test notes:
1. radio is really really very very lousy, half reception for all station.
2. sound is really great
3. sound can be more refined but the EQ really kind of advanced (previously use sony, really simple)
4. ?

im sure this sony will be great and maybe better than their current offerings but it is still a tiny device trying to do everything: it won't be the messiah we are waiting for. im sure of that.
You seem fairly confident that the x1000 will not fulfill that blank and we are yet to see the product itself. I mean give it a chance at least. Sony is legendary for performance for a premium price. We can at least give Sony credit that they are creating a beautiful machine that is sure to not disappoint a large amount of people. My dad worked for Sony and I practically lived and breathed Sony stuff. I admit that I am fanboy but not because of the company's namesake. But because they earn it with quality products. I'm going to save up over the summer and get one. I do wish Sony would cut the proprietary crap and allow some open sourcing so developers can make applications.

I wonder it this is the first DAP/PMP with a digital amp? Wasn't there another with Bang&Olufsens ICE technology based amplifier?

did u guys see the specs of x1000? correct me if I'm wrong, but did Sony somehow forgot to include support for lossless audio AGAIN?
Cowon keeps going all over the place about any news over a 32GB s9, anyway.

Anyone did a side by side video comparison? I'm very curious to know whether someone can tell a difference in video quality vs. the S9 although the Sony is listed with a lower resolution. This is assuming high bitrate on both.

Yes, they did. As a disappointed S9 owner--claustrophobically narrow soundstage, constant tweaking required, horrible controls, weak volume--I really would like to convince myself to stop caring, though.

What are realistic battery life expectations on the S9 and X? I can easily find the "listed" times, but you never know how accurate those will be.

Bringing this thread back from the dead...

Having both the S9 32GB and the X1000 32GB... just getting a feel for if anyone is still actually interested in a comparison of these?!?

I was gonna say, this is an OLD thread. . But I'd definitely like to hear about a comparison, since I need a new PMP.
