I can see why people will prefer Ella/Nina/ etc, they have a more impressive voice and can grab attention faster. But I somehow don't like their music (the music itself). Their stuff probably sounds better from more generic equipment, just like pop stuff are great playing on car radios (or even boom boxes). So before you hate Krall so much, try it with another rig and see. The speakers on your TV will not do any music justice (well, except may be country music).
Not trying to start a war or anything, but seriously…what are the chances that a substantial number of people who visit a site called "head-fi" actually listen to music through TV speakers? Just a thought…

I do tend to see her name banded around a lot here by those reviewing hardware. Just about says it all really, i.e. the production is more memorable than the musical content
bernado...I must say...that was hilarious...LOL!!

.
Krall's music sounds even more dull and lifeless on a better rig. Though her music didn't have any soul and emotion to begin with anyways.

EDIT: And oh. Jazz relying a lot on low level SUBTLE details? Pfft. Where did that come from. Stereotype. That's all I have to say. Here's the other side of Jazz which you've forgotten about.

You see what you did there, you just backed up my prior post.
To be fair though, I do think hardware does have a role to play in one's enjoyment of said 'artiste'. After much extensive research, I can confirm the following technique enhances the audiophile experience - Get a vinyl pressing of your chosen Krall recording, scrape it within an inch of it's life with industrial grade glass paper and then play it on the below high fidelity sonic reproduction equipment. Given the right conditions, i.e. sitting on your porch in a creaky old rocking chair, glass of your chosen brew in hand, for a fleeting moment you could be listening to the blues!

Krall is a decent entry-level recommendation for female singer.

I hate the haters.

As a matter of fact, I'm going to open a new club across the street and play "Celine Dion Does Diana, a Tribute to Ms. Krall", 24 hours a day on the loudspeaker.

Also, I will be sending over Oliver's Army, whose aim is true. And if that doesn't work, I'll be watching the detectives with Allison.

A risky move I think. Not wanting to be alarmist but Accidents Will Happen
