Re-finish to XLR or total Re-cable for Edition 9?

I am about to receive my new Rudistor RP010B. This is my first balanced headphone amplifier (the rest of my system up stream is already full balanced) and all my headphone collection is single ended.

My question regarding my Edition 9 is what is more convenient just re-terminated the stock cable to XLR or do a total re-cabled?

If the answer is just re-terminate the stock cable is clear the cable has two parallel leads into the 1/4" plug. Does each lead has two wires and a shield so the termination to XLR can be done properly?

If the answer is total re-cable then which brand and model do you recommend the best for the Edition 9? and What are the sonic advantages?

Thanks.

I would without hesitation recomend Alex from APureSound and his V3 cable. I have/have had either V2 or V3 on all my headphones and it is always excelent work and sq.

Alex's cable is just awesome. It's the only aftermarket cable I would consider to buy.

Hey Lil' Knight, I think you have a pair of DX1000 with DIY Jana cable. Do you recommend that better than the APS?

So you guy think the Ed9 will benefit from a total re-cable to XLR with APS V3 more than just re-terminate the stock cable?

I have APS V3 (I think) in a highly moded D200o and I love their sound.

Have you guys have heard anything about RAL lately? I would love to give it a try but I am concern of the time and/or difficulties to get my headphones back.

The ED-9 has ohliback cable stock. (spellcheck..)

At one time, ohliback was a well regarded builder of aftermarket cables, but has since fallen from vogue it would seem. I like mine.

A local head-fier prefers his stock ED-9 to a recabled set, I trust his ears.

Anyways, once a cable falls out of fashion, it is basically worth about as much as the stocker. Why throw the money down the drain?

that is true. name/brand is so important in this business.

as for your recabling question, one head-fier (BigEat) has about 5 Ed.9s - some stock, some recabled. might want to shoot him a pm.

El_Doug, I would love to put in a 4 pin connector if my amplifier had a 4 pin connector but the reality is that it has 2 3 pin connectors so I would need and adpater and why to add another connexcion and potential noise in the chain?

poeple here in the forum is wright about the 4 pin connector. We don't need more and it would simplify things out including cost but we need the manufacturers to start producing the amps wit that kind of connector first.
