Goldpoint Headphone Pro - Page 3

Checked with Arn of Goldpoint who told me new boards will arrive anytime now and he will have the updated version of Headphone Pro this or coming week.

Just want to ask which one you guys think is better ? Vertical or Horizontal version ?

Website promises they are absolutely identical. I can´t see how they could sell it saying they are identical if they aren´t. What is the exact dimensions on it. Wonder if it can fit on or below my Keces if so I can go for the flat version instead of risking my cats tipping it over I am all out of space though so the standing one is tempting.

So when would the new 'updated' version be available on ebay? And how do we know if we order, we're getting the new one?

I would contact them personally. I think you can order directly from their home page too and not via ebay. I will look into how the western union stuff works too. If it´s really 10 % cheaper it can compensate a bit for the 25 % import tax plus fees...

Any update on the improved version?

Arn of Goldpoint told me 2 weeks ago that the new board arrived. I am expecting mine (vertical version) hopefully sometime next week. That should be the new version.

Complete radio silence from Goldpoint.

For those who have tested the older version, how would you rate the goldpoint based on the price and performance to other brands of similar pricing?

I really don't rate anything on price/performance.
I never judge it by the price. If I want it and if I can afford it I buy it.
As far as solid state amps go I would compare it to the Graham Slee Solo and Lehmann Black Cube Linear. If I would replace it I would probably look at the SPL Phonitor or Auditor.
I never heard other obvious competitors like GS-1 or Headroom Desktop Ultra.

I just had mail from Arn.
He's had a stroke about a month ago and has been in hospital for a while.
He's told me he expects to be able to ship in a week or two, but I told him not to hurry.

Dear Kees,
I know it's a strange comparision, but hw does it compare with your rpx-100?

I mailed Arn yesterday and seems like the first samples is just a few days off

To supplement on this Arn had several iterations on the electronic boards. A week ago the final version of 2 "release candidate" boards arrived and Arn has just picked one for the future Headphone Pro. What next is to order production of the final boards. I think the new version of Headphone Pro is only weeks away.

And according to Arn "it is worth the wait".

I hope mine will be with me by end of this month.

Single ended: The Goldpoint is more detailed, has better high extension, better bass extension and is "faster". The RPX-100 is fuller and warmer, but less refined.
Single ended I prefer the Goldpoint in general, but it depends on the combination. The DX1000 I prefer plugged into the Goldpoint, the GS1000 I prefer with the RPX-100.
There is never a simple answer, because there is always personal preference and synergy....

Thanks Kees
And, between both which one is nearer to "music" as it should be?
