Goldpoint Headphone Pro - Page 20

glad to hear he doesn't treat everyone like this..I don't listen to SMPS and $2 opamps, especially for $550! in another life maybe

anyway, I always like to ask manufacturers about technical details, and they're always very happy to give informations and don't push their stuff like "the best evar <3"...this is just laughable to the utmost. and the personal attacks/sarcastic comments were way over the top for me. case closed

when I said that I already had a burson ha-160 and was an old-timer on head-fi, he started to tone down ^^

then he said that his golden amp thingie was using a bunch of low cost OP825 opamps on an SMPS wallwart...and he suddenly started becoming arrogant and patronizing...what a joke company...I'd rather give money to charity at this point.

bottom line is: good luck getting your amp fixed buddy
Strange post.
You sure you dialed the right number?

hehe, right...your Arn buddy is a very kind guy, and I'm just imagining things.

anyway, for the ppl that might care I gave the specs of his amp..a bunch of $2 AD825 opamps on a wallwart...for $550, the deal of the century for sure!

PS: I didn't mean to threadcrap, I leave you in peace now.

Oh, good, you almost made me think you were serious.
You should be careful with this imagining things, it could get you into trouble sometime....

Yes, isn't it great that he can make it sound that good?
Deal of the century maybe a bit over the top, but pretty damn good it is!

The most polite I could say that is a classic LeePerry troll post .
LeePerry has a way of bending the truth. I am quite sure if we would seen the ev email conversation they had it would be quite different from how LeePerry present it.

Nothing I can relate to in my communication with Arn. And no he hasn´t been trying to sell headphones to me either lol

"you could get a Goldpoint Headphone Pro, perhaps the BEST sounding headphone amp on the planet! [..] sell off your Sony MDR-1000s and get one of these really excellent sounding headphone sets: [..] (we hope to be carrying all of these here soon...)"...yes, I imagined this one too

anyway, posting personal emails on a public forum is frowned upon, and he only said "planet"...not "universe", so luckily that still leaves hope for the extraterrestrial competition(that doesn't sell $2 opamps on a wallwart for $550...sadly)

I also love how things always get overblown on head-fi...that guy gave me a good laugh, case closed on my end

Cheap opamps are nothing new.. My 1,300 1800 receiver uses 1.25 DACs.. Does that mean it's crap? no. It sounds great.. Would you feel better if he used 5-25 dollar opamps.. I'm sure you are well aware that more goes into a amp then just a opamp. & what he does with 2 dollar opamps is amazing.. I don't understand how you can thrash a amp you never heard cause it uses a wall wart & cheap opamps.. &, I'm sure you know, just because a opamp cost more doesn't make it better.. Everyone who owns his amp is very satisfied with the SQ.. This includes people who auditioned it. I never heard any thing bad about the GP V5 SQ..

& he also said perhaps..

Got my V9 GHP today :)...

Not going to write to much but it surely sounds different compared to what I remembered it. And I am quite sure to the better :). More body and fluidity if my audio memory don´t totally fails me.

V9?

MOAR info?

I ordered the V6 but at the time it was shipped and some can you wait a few more days I ended up with V9. Mostly PCB changes in 8 and 9 I believe. Don´t quite remembered what was changed from V6 to V7. I also got the new adapter so no need for transformators any more. Will try the old less powered one to get a feel how much difference that make. If I ever find the time.

Anyway early impressions is I have never ever heard such textured bass before. Take such control without going bass lean or being bassy. The ED 8 and DX 1000 can sound congested on the Auditor and DAC19 but haven´t noticed any such beaviour on the GHP yet. It´s still very full bodied much more so then I remembered the GHP prior to the upgrade. ED 8 and Pro 900 both sound absolutely amazing on it. DX 1000 is still DX 1000 sometimes it works sometimes it doesn´t. I am working 6-15 the entire week now so I am pretty tired when I listen which tend to make music sound better too though. I need a new cable for my Auditor since my cable broke and the adapters I have is junk so can´t do any such comparisons more then from memory. I do feel like it seems the GHP drives my low impedance headphones better. I have just briefly tried the T1. The synergy feels better then the Auditor where the T1 kind of looses it´s body but there is something sluggish and slow about the T1 compared to the Auditor. As expected the Auditor seem to be able to drive 600 ohms headphones better. I am still looking for the perfect amp for that headphone though. It must be able to do better!

So yes it´s a given upgrade from what I heard so far... I will have to fight with the customs because they taxed me again despite me having the original receipt sent with the amp marked as repaired in shipping. Quite confident I will get my money back but you never know.

I also just got my Goldpoint V9 back. Too early to make comments but it drives my HD800 much better then my MAD Ear + HD. Totally agree that the T1 sounds sluggish on the GP but the HD800 really sings ! The bass seemed tighter and more "present" on V9 than on V5. But since it,s been almost 6 weeks it's hard to make a valid comparison between V5 and V9.

I'm getting my upgrade next week can't wait..One of the few amps to give my DT48 some bass impact.

The new upgrade comes with the new universal PS.. No more Wall Wart.. If Arn keeps upgrading his amp, I will keep them them done... Too easy not to. We live in the same city.
