The GP amp is clearly on par with sub 1,000 amps.. That alone makes it a great BFTB..
decay of instruments? It´s shorter or longer or how is it better?

As for higher resolution. Is the treble more extended?
Soundstage any difference?

bass more controlled... Bass do get tighter not just more of it?

Overall balance is it pretty much the same or did it go brighter/darker?

Do you feel the GP it's more bright and transparent compare to the Solo?
BTW, I was wondering if someone will bring his GP to the NorCal, San Francisco Bay Area Meet 2/27/2010. I'm curios to check it out on my 702.

The decay is a bit longer and feels more natural. There is a extra layer of resolve to the instruments. Lets you dig a bit deeper into the music. Blackness between the notes. Decay slowly fades into a black void. Better bass defition, control, and texture. Tighter bass. Doesn't increase the bass quantity. Sound stage feels the same.. Maybe better separation. Don't really notice any treble difference.. Should mate well with your 900's.. Overall balance. Bright side of neutral. No difference IMO.

IMO, the GP is very bright to begin with.. My BC2 DAC really mellows it out. The GP is very transparent, at least at this price point. And is pretty much un colored. Might sound a bit sterile with your 702, as I found they need tubes to really give them life and musicality.. But both the amp and 702 are highly resolving, so I expect you hearing little audio artificats that you might have missed, especially with the upgrades. If the meet is on Sat, I can't make it. I work Saturdays.

I think this might be more due to the headphones you are using then to the amp....
I don't think the Goldpoint is bright, it is detailed and transparent, but if your headphones are bright and bass light, that's what you'll hear. With the PRO900 for instance you get all the bass, down to the lowest lows.

There is a possibility that I'll like the GP, I love the Phonitor and the Luxman too.
From your description it's sounds similar to the amps that I like.

Congratulations I will probably upgrade now. Can really relate to your K701 comments and qualified guess work on the 900. Or you maybe got one of those too? The 900 do get slightly bright on this amp but as mention bass goes all the way down and more and with more detail and actually punch then with my previous amps at the same time. I still wish for less bass so they are really not lacking in that area on those.

Hard to know but yes they do fool me I get less of a signature from the amp itself and more from my sources/headphones

I am going to try and have a mini-meet with VVANRIJ to compare the Goldpoint with the Phonitor.

Sound like a plan.

Nice Kees! Was it worth the wait?

Would you like to keep me posted on the meet? It would be interesting to see how the v2 holds up to the v5. Also, I have repaired a broken DT880 600 ohm that you might want to listen to.

Why is it v5 and not v3?
When Kees sent out his (I'll save you the rest of the story ) v1 to be modded to a v3 Arn had come up with a v5 already.

Don't know yet. I don't have a PSU with the right plug..... I know I have it, but I can't find it. And then all sort of other things came up and left me with no time to go out and get one....

We can plan our meet anyway. I'll send you a PM.
