Quest for non-Pleather 780 pads

I've searched around for replacement 780 pads for the 780's before I buy a pair. I'm not a fan of pleather. Are there any options? Real leather or velour are both acceptable. Do the Edition 9 pads fit? Any other options besides the "comfort mod" and the cheap covers from the camera shop that turn up in my searches?
Thank you!

The HFI-780's come only with the one set of pads. The PRO series have velvet pads and also come with a spare set.

Hi Paul, Thank you. I currently have a very pristine pair of Proline 750's. I am considering a pair of 780's in addition or instead of my 750's. My experience with pleather pads is that they last about a year or two, then they self destruct. In addition, I don't find them that comfortable. I am curious if the Edition 9 pads will fit, or if there is a velour or leather replacement. Barring that, are replacement pleather ones available? At least then I can replace them when they self destruct, and possibly use them as a pattern for a DIY set. Thank you Paul! You are always so responsive to this forum!

Could the velour pads of Pro900s be fitted on HFI-780s?

No, this is not possible due to the size and shape of the ear cup.

Try the Beyer DT250 pads. I pulled mine of my Sony 7506's and they fit well on my HFI-580's. I bought them from here.

Miguel, please do update with your results! I'm still considering the 780 for my office cans.

Can you elaborate more on how about doing this? I have a pair of 580 and very much would like to do this as well.

It's pretty simple. The pads slip over a lip on the cans. Here is a pic with it partially off. These pads are more oval than the rounder Ultrasone pads.

Wow, so now sewing is involved? I'm in for one as well then. Thanks for the good info.

One thing I forgot to mention is that the new pads should come with a new acoustic foam. Just put the pads on and then work the foam in under the installed pads until they are fairly centered and flat. They stay in well on their own.

Cool, thanks mrarroyo. And now to jack my own thread - My Senn 580's with the usual 600 grills, 650 cable are on the market, and I have a cash offer, and an offer to trade the senns plus $30ish for a pair of 1 hour old HFI 780's. Wadaya think anyone?
