Air head problems

I recently purchased my first amp.It was the Total Airhead.
Everything was good for 2 weeks
Then my amp started to produce and static and crackling noices which
made listening impossible. The clipping light did not go on.
Is it the batteries ?

Anybody else have this problem ?

It will produce those noises if the batteries are too low.

edited to add: I do not know about any other possible causes.

If the clipping light is not coming on, then either the clipping light is broken and the batteries are low, or the amp is faulty in some other way, or your source is broken.

Mine will run low on batteries as well without the clipping light ever flashing. Just change the batteries and all should be well, if not, well... then things are not well!?!?!

Not the source,3G nano ipod is ok. I plugged in the apple earbuds and
I can hear my podcasts and music ok. It is when I connect it to the amp
after several minutes things screw up.

Changing the batteries should be simple enough to test...

My Airhead clipping light comes on also to indicate a low battery condition. but if it does not come on when the static starts I would first check to see if the low gain or high gain switch is selected. dependant upon what headphones you are trying to drive. What cans do you listen to?
Does the Nano have an EQ that you can turn off ? . Mine sometimes does that same thing but usually only with my laptop headphone out. I usually just stop and restart my source. I have an unproven theory that the crossfeed sometimes freaks out if the source is low power.

It was the batteries. Got new ones today. It has seemed to do the trick.
