Fake ATH-ESW-9? (56K warning!) - Page 9

That price is definitely too good to be true and is probably fake. Rule of thumb.

Don't pay for it, and just take the neutral FB if he leaves it..

I'll second it on the price. Seems way to low for the real deal.

I did a reply from the Ebay seller....

"Ben-Brown,
this is exactly what I have; they are in this exact box. Are you planning to buy one or did you buy one? My supplier is from USA, but they are made in China like everything else.

Not sure what else to say, but again, this is exact pakcage & item I also have.

Call me if you have more question: xxx-xxx-xxxx
Please don't buy or bid if you are not satisfy. I give 100% to make people happy!"

This is the exact message...check his grammar and spelling.
The first pic is what the seller posted with the ad and the second pic is what he sent me after I asked for another photo. Both photos are used by other Ebay sellers.

I have seen the fakes a couple of weeks ago. There's no way anyone could be fooled by them. The packaging is way off from what can be expected of ATH. And the price tag revealed them for fakes quite blatantly

Do you think the ESW9 is real of fake from these pics?

Looks real to me

This is my message from an earlier post here as to how I found mine to be fake.
In retrospect, I found the biggest giveaway was the sound. The sound on an authentic ESW-9 are quite good and what one would expect with a $200 pair of headphones. The coils, seen when you remove the ear pads are the visible giveaway.

Hope this helps.
The ebay seller that I bought these from, BTW, gave me a full refund. He didn't even question it, therefore he must have known or be suspicious himself.

1. Documentation is not complete. There seems to be a warranty card but it does not include the serial number of the headphones. it is in Chinese but it does not appear to have an address to send it to like one would expect.
2. Inner coil of the speaker, seen through the holes in the plastic after you take the ear pad off, is copper, not the blueish color that is mentioned on page 2 or so of this thread.
3. The phone cable does indeed seem rubbery.
4. After playing these phones for four or more hours, the sound is not good. I would describe it as muddy and lacking any real detail. Like the sound of low end headsets.

The seller sent me another picture of the headphones in question. They do look real in the photo attached. I then asked for a photo of the back of the box but he hasn't sent me anything yet.

I hate to bang the 'drums of dome' but guys, you've gotta keep off ebay now! Start coughing up the money and buy legit. Do not cut corners, else you'll end up being cut yourself.

I' didn't start fakeheadphones for a joke, I did it to help people, and the best advice that I can give, is: Stay off ebay, unless someone here (someone you trust) can give you advice on a legit seller!

ebay are not good for headphones once they're on the 'Counterfeit' list, and these are obviously being copied. It breaks my heart to see people flushing their money down the toilet. Please, The EWS-9's are on the 'Banned from ebay list' IMHO!

try the dealer search facility before you buy.

sorry for coming being over zealous, but i hate to see people get ripped off.

Having been burned, but then luckilly refunded, I compelely agree.

When I did buy the authentic version of these headphones, I found a decent sale that brought them down to only about $20 more than I what I paid for them to begin with.

Do a Google search, then buy only from an authentic retailer. Authentic retailers with a web presence have more to loose from selling fakes than any profit they may accrue from the sale of a fake.

I eventually bought mine from buy.com on sale.

I'm looking at getting a pair of ESW9's but the Amazon price is kind of low. I know it is a third party, but is it probably a reliable source?

1 feedback, I think it would be a risk.
Go for the Beach Camera deal $25 more but you are buying from a reliable retailer (through Amazon) with free shipping too!
Really, $224.99 for new isn't to shabby of a price!

I was going to do the Beach Camera one. I didn;t see another offer but I was just curious because I wasn't aware of the reliability of Beach Camera itself.... I've never heard of them personally
