Sorry, it sounds contradictory, I know! I'll leave someone else to explain it from a technical point of view... but for now, if you imagine squeezing a sponge ball in your hands (or even a Shure Olive!!), you can make it much smaller... but when you let go, it expands to its original size, nothing is lost, it's still in one piece. And there's your 'compressed' lossless file. WAV/PCM is uncompressed, and takes up much more space, but it seems like that might be the only lossless format the Sony will support.

Yes, you can transfer anything now as far as I know.
They dumped the Connect store last year if I remember.
