As far as I know, it's only showing as available for pre-order on Amazon UK to this point. Unfortunately they only ship within UK.

True that, Amazon do not ship electronics overseas, nor do play.com. The only one who does is AMP3.

Well Soozieq thats encouraging, I thought we'd have to wait until May-June. I can't see amazon putting the pre-order up that far in advance. I'm going to be on this like white on rice, I love my s639.

I think there are 3 release dates - March for UK/Europe, May for Canada, and summer for the US (whenever summer begins??) When I spoke to Amazon, they were fairly confident they'd have it in stock by March, but I refuse to believe anything until I get the: "Your item has been dispatched" email

kite7: I don't know what the screen is made of, and I haven't found any information about it at all. Sony like to keep stuff like this to themselves, it seems!

this is getting VERY tempting... as I checked play.com and it says..

i've seen it,but what every1 is looking for is the SQ of this player,I want to get a different DAP atm but this player is making me confused!

Well, most people know there aren't going to be loads of reviews on it yet, because it hasn't been released! I posted the link because the reviewer seems to be one of the only people who actually commented (briefly), on the sound quality. Did you read what he said? The excerpt you copied from play.com was just a blurb and not a review.

im getting upset and frustrated that theres hardly any info out there at the moment on this DAP, like only one review from the jounel du geek and not much else oh and like one pre order website from amazon.uk. really need some more stuff out there on it so i can pour over it as i enjoy doing, im hoping that the lack of info isnt because its a long way off, im so ready right about now to just drop some cash on this baby. So soozie q you asked amazon about it arriving?

Also, any idea if Sony continued with their nasty tricks and won't allow you to transfer anything that isn't from them.
I stopped buying their products because of DRM and their proprietary tactics. It would be nice to know if they walked away from that.

I came really close to pulling the trigger on their Cybershot DSC-T700 camera, until I remembered that you have to use their Memory Stick and not just any SD or MMC card.

Yes, you can transfer anything now as far as I know.
They dumped the Connect store last year if I remember.

They don't like you to use anything they didn't make.
Even the usb cables for my Sony daps are proprietary and cost £30 new

The X1000 series will be like their seventh or eight Walkman model to use MTP/UMS. No more sonicstage in their none-Japan Walkman for two years already.

As for MS, I view SD cards as annoying as MS. Just see how many times have the association changed their specs...

I've never owned any of Sony's DAPs but offering 32gb (I'm assuming this is flash based and not a HDD) is intriguing. Any chance Sony supports gapless playback with MP3s?

Yes, it's flash based. But it's highly unlikely there'll be any gapless playback with mp3's
