The S Master amp is intriguing. Video-wise though...is it lacking? Does anyone know if it supports AVI files? With Sony's track record though, I'm guessing it doesn't. And it only supports 320 x 240 video files...did I interpret that correctly?

Yes, video support may not matter much to some. However, I have several AVI file in my computer and converting them is a bit of a nuisance.

Who knows though... maybe it'll knock the S9 (SQ-wise )out of the water. I'm personally going to wait until it's released in the UK before deciding on a DAP...I'll be looking forward to your reviews, guys.

and native res of the OLED display = 430x something on this device - yet they are running it at 320x ? crazy

Don't take that too seriously; Amazon will probably let this on the site untill they actually receive the players, and then it'll be with you very fast. But when that will be? Perhaps between 1 and 2 months?

So far there have been no real reviews, and nothing concrete where someone has uploaded videos to it and checked if flash works. That being said, it is best to wait and see what will be when it is finally released. I have hope in sony and even though I will not watch too much video on the device, resolutions higher than 320 would be nice. I am sure if people complain, an update to firmware will occur, or someone will make a bootleg firmware :P
