Very similar characteristics imo, except the HE60 has more warmth while retaining the excellent detail, imaging, speed and realism. However, the K1000 has more bass impact although both have bass extension problems. The K1000 also has a wider soundstage(obviously lol).

Anyone own both of them previously?

I currently have both, and wouldn't trade or sell either one - each is special and get roughly the same head time.

I've heard the HE-60 on several occasions and much prefer the K-1000s.

Some here really connect to the 60, so you probably gotta trust your own judgement on that.

Have both bass light and heavy K1000's and HE60.

The K1000's are great, especially the bass heavy. HE60 is far more addictive and keeps me looking for more tracks to listen to.

My favourite is still the HD800.

Owned both of them including two pairs of HE-60. If you like a lot of SSSSSSSSSSSSizzle both of them serve you well.

Moved on to the L-3000 and Stax SR-007 after that. Current fav is the HE-6 and the T1 not too far behind.

Are there any significant differences between the K 1000 bass heavy and bass light, other than the bass?

And even in terms of bass is it that significance a difference - is it in quality or quantity; depth, clarity, timbre and definition, punchiness etc.

I have the bass heavy version and am wondering if its worth the investment to get the bass light edition also?

As someone said who had a loan of my bass light K1000 for a few weeks and then heard the Bass heavy ones, He could hear all the music now instead of only half. That's an exaggeration, but it can seem that way sometin\mes. The bass lights seem to have great mids and highs, but on the bass heavies they seem subdued because of the extra low frequencies being produced. When you concentrate on the mids and highs, they are just as good as the lights. It's just that the low frequencies move the emphasis away from them.

I LOVE my K 1000, but have added the Baby Orpheus (Sennheiser HE60), which is my favorite phone

and also added an HE Audio Jade.

Lambda Pros. Have owned 007s. Prefer the Lambdas in my setup.
