Just ordered a WA5 LE!!! (pictures and impressions added) - Page 3

Yes, that would be pretty amazing! The only problem is that I decided not to get the Balancing Act since I wasn't ready to go balanced just yet. The main problem is that if I bought both the BA and the WA5LE (plus the new balanced source for the BA) at the same time, I would also have to hire a divorce lawyer and they are not cheap.

That should certainly give you two nice amplifiers to choose between.

I see! Yeah with the cost of (divorce) lawyers these days its totally understandable...
The WA5 LE I am sure will keep you happy on its own though.

I just got an email from Jack stating that my WA5 LE will ship tomorrow!!! It is being shipped via FedEx ground so it should be here by Friday (weird thing: according to the FedEx website, shipping Houston -> NYC takes 3 days but shipping NYC -> Houston takes 4 business days)!

(I would include more "smiley faces" but I just learned that "you are limited to using 25 images").

I'm bummed. A couple of weeks ago my cesspool had to be replaced. Cost me almost $4000. I could have bought a fully modded Woo Audio WA5 LE with money left over! Such is life

Congrats.

What's this about the PPU upgrade some have mentioned in this thread? Is it part of the upgrades option on the Woo's site or do you have to ask for it separately? And if so, how much if I may ask?

Did you find some suitable 6SN7s to roll in there yet?

Oh, that really bites. Let's see....new cesspool or fully modded WA5 LE, which would I rather buy?

Well, I have two "matched" pairs at this point

- NOS Sylvania 6sn7wgta brown (60's)
- NOS RCA 6SN7GT RCA blackplate, grey glass, short glass envelope (40's)

I also have two Ken Rad VT-231 that came with the SP Extreme but I am not sure they are the "same." I will have to look more closely at them. One has black siding and one is clear. Would it be bad (for the amp) to try out the KR's in the Woo Audio, not knowing if they were the same type of tube (of course, it may be bad for my ears )?

This should get me started. I am still looking around hoping to find some other 6sn7 tube rolling possibilities. I am just not looking to spend $250-$400 on a pair of NOS tubes right now (unless I know that it will be worth it).

I have been looking around for a pair of Brimar CV1988 but haven't been able to find any.

You know what they say, "the grass is always greener over the cesspool."

Woohoo!!! I really hope it gets here in time for you to enjoy it over the weekend. What's the first set of cans and first music selection to start the audition? I assume the marantz will be the source?

Me too!!! I haven't made a decision about headphones and music yet but I will certainly pop in Beck's Sea Changes SACD and some Radiohead (this is always the most difficult decision to make)! I will try it with both the SA8001 and ECD-1.
