Anyone here play some saxophone?

Alto, Tenor, Baritone or Soprano?

Jazz or Classical?

For me, I play jazz on an alto sax.

Awesome. I'm currently playing a YAS-23 too. Decent for a student horn.

I study classical saxophone and clarinet ^^. I have a Yanagisawa 992 alto and a set of Buffet Crampon Festivals , and I'm buying a tenor this summer, probably a Yanagisawa but I can't be shure before I've tested some :P

Just picked up a Selmer Mark VII, widely considered to be one of the best saxes in the world.

This one was made in 1976 (M256XXX) but still is in perfect condition!

I love it!

I play an alto in the school band, but trying to play jazz. I currently have a Vito YAS-23 clone that just sounds eh to me. It's a bit too tinny sounding to me. I'm saving up for a Conn Transitional with deco engraving like:

I've always liked Conns' full, big, Charlie Parker sound more than Selmer's refined sound. A Top Hat and Cane Buescher 400 would be nice too but Conns just look so cool.

gore.rubicon, what kind of Buffet? They made some very nice saxes.

Woot, go saxophones!

Played tenor sax (not those toy alto saxophones ) from 7th grade to college now.

Middle school: Intermediate band
High school: Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Intermediate Band
College: Pep Band

Used a Yamaha in the past, and now a Canonball. I kind of miss marching band, but if I had to do it again, I'd re-live high school instead of continuing into college.

My CD collection quadrupled during undergrad because of my semi-pro sax playing. At the time I was alto, but I prefer the sound of the tenor but the enjoyment and freedom of the soprano. These days I don't have time to play much and when I do, I find myself migrating to the clarinet, but back in the day...how I loved to play the sax. It was as if I were extraplanar, otherworldly. I could dismiss the stresses of life and live in the moment of the note being played.

I've had a large amount of professional training at the local conservatorium.
Played for probably 16 years.
*snip* changed my mind about a free release of my EP specifically for head-fi *snip*

I've got a MKVI alto and MKVI tenor down at the old house. I havn't been there in ages though so I sort of miss them. I've got a yas32 down at the student housing.

I use a Brilhart Ebolin mouthpiece 3 on the alto and a custom mouthpiece by john thomas on the tenor.

Oh yeah, jazz mostly.

Wow. We have quite a few saxophone players here.

I'm actually using an "Early Babbit" Meyer 6M right now on my Selmer.

Lovin' it.

I decided to cancel it.

Played alto throughout jr. high and high school. I was in concert, jazz, and marching bands. It was the music that I cherished the most, and some of the people. My music teacher was a real hard@$$, but I haven't met anyone who could match his love for music. I still have my beat up Alpine, which was cheap but it served me fine. One of the seniors at my school had a Selmer Super Action 80 Series II, clear lacquer engraved, which I envied. Didn't have the time to try out a jazz mouthpiece, so I did what I could with a C* and Vandoren 3.5s. It would be fun to pick it up again later on, and get lessons started up again. I had a private teacher who was just smokin' on his Mark VII.

I particularly like the elevator, or keep it traditional in the bedroom. Oh wait SAX- Fi, sorry disregard what i just said. Awkward...

Good tenor players are a dime a dozen.

Good alto players can make ya CRY!!

Glad no one is playing the "squeaky toy" (Soprano).
