Just thought I'd start this essential thread off with an invitation to all of you with these phones to list (and even provide pix of) your favourite D7000 amps, tube or SS, cheap or SOTA, modest or gaudy, etc.

I've been using mine on the Cary SLi-80 Sig. and HR Ultra Micro Stack with excellent results and will try 'em out on my EMP in a day or so. I think the HR sound is a great complement to the speed and richness of the D7000s but would be nice to have a roster of compatible amps. List away!

you can definitely listen to it with an Ipod, it sounds pretty good comparatively.

I use mine with a Rudistor RPX-33 MkII or a Rudistor RP-7 Lite Hybrid or a GS-1 with stepped attenuator and hopefully in a few weeks with a Rudistor RP010B.

Thinking on the D7000 going balanced baby!!!

MacBook Pro > Stello DA100 / Toslink > Singlepower MPX3-SE w/plitron with Bendix 2C51 and GE-GBL7GTA's

My rig is still a work in progress. But, the Leben CS300 integrated amp has permanent membership (until I track down as CS300x) because of how wonderful it makes my speakers and D7000s sound. It adds a touch of warmth and sparkle to the rather neutral signature. However, I have used mine with the HA02, HA5000, RA1, CEC 53R, and Apache (now gone). I think the D7000s sound great with all of them but my favorites are the Leben and the Apache. The Leben breathes life into the sound while the Apache controlled it very well providing gobs of detail. I might try another balanced amp somewhere down the line but Leben fits very well into my rig as the major control center and it is one of the coolest amps I have seen. One thing I like is that I feel the Denons sound pretty good out of most amps I have tried. I do not feel like I have to be obsessed with trying to find the perfect mate. I am sure some amps are not so good with such low impedance headphones and others will match extremely well, but I feel no desperation to find an amp to correct some issue with how the headphones sound. Nothing needs correcting!

My source is a PC feeding a PS Audio DLIII.

Here is the Leben:

sold my d7000 but used it with 2 amps:
Antique Sound Labs OTL32 (worked great with almost anything but too "tubey" with the d7000)

Headamp Gilmore Lite(great combo since the lite is clean/revealing really let the d7000 shine)

My source was a warm NOS dac.

Getting good results with straight out of an Apogee Duet. Not pushing the D7000s to their limits but a nice combo for not a lot of $$$.

best,

Those Leben look cool - I consider buying a used CS600 - nice to know that the headphone output is well made...I hear the Portal Panache is one of the best headphone outputs on an integrated amp.
