SIGG Thread. (water bottles)

Thread Starter
My wife has been using a SIGG water container for the last couple months. She had always re-used plastic bottles and was on the lookout for something to replace them after all the issues with plastic. Came across these bottles in a magizine.

I got one for myself and have to say this is a nice canteen. We have RO/UV water treatment (former reef hobbyist) so I take my water with me. I've used plastic but it always fouls the taste. I keep the polishing filter changed once a year so the taste stays clean but thought something was wrong with it. The SIGG bottles have no taste. They are rugged built light weight aluminum. Clips on my tool bag for convenience.

I enjoy my water on the road now. The bottle is also a good metering tool to know how much water I've had. They come in 20 and 33 oz sizes. Two bottles a day keeps the kidney stones at bay. Sucks getting old.

Anyway, if you spend the money to keep your water clean (and if you don't, why not), check out these bottles for portable use.

I got mine back in July. Totally love it.

It also stands up well to abuse. Not that I deliberately tried to break it, but a full Liter smacking onto concrete was not nice to the aluminum. It's dual walled, so it doesn't affect the water inside.

The only bad part is that the one liter bottle won't fit in the cup holder in my car. Otherwise, it's perfect.

I've been using a canteen like this from brunton since about 6 years ago. I love it and it is wonderful.

Yeah, these bottles are really nice.
I use a 1/2 liter one myself, with our company logo on it.

Personally I use

I tend to drop it so it has a couple of little dents but it does it's job. Definitely worth having

Siggs have been over here for donkeys years so much so other companies make similar bottles.

I discovered Sigg a couple years ago... really, I love them for the "no taste" factor too, and I've never liked the trend for Nalgene bottles. Funny thing is, I left my bottle in an office at school and then thought I lost it, so I bought the same one again. Now I have two, go figure...

I've seen a lot of Sigg ripoffs recently, though, online/in California. Including for kids (who probably don't really care?). Shinzi Katoh makes several smaller ones -- love the designs.

We always used Sigg bottles to hold the fuel for our camp stoves on backpacking trips. They work great for that, too.

I picked this one up at a Radiohead show last year, so much nicer than my old Nalgene:

The Shinzi Katoh bottles are very nice, but I couldn't find any place in the states that sold them.
Instead - I ended up picking up a sigg bottle awhile ago at Whole Foods Market. Has some dents in it now from daily use.

I think I've seen them in some Japanese boutiques or places that stock import cute things... not sure. That or Shinzi-clones. A friend got hers online, I believe?

Here's mine (just regular Sigg):
