I just saw a mint pair go for $825 shipped on ebay.  I put an offer in but evidently someone else is more eager to get them than I am.

And so it begins...

I just (a few weeks ago) bought what was billed as a "gently used, excellent condition" but what I believe is a "used no more than three times, mint in all but name" pair on ebay for almost exactly that, and then 15 for S/H. Most expensive pair of headphones I ever bought, but I am very glad I did as an upgrade from my DT-990s. Listening to foobar --> DACport LX --> Meier Corda Jazz --> AH-D7000.

I am one very happy music lover right now. L3000.gif

I'm tempted to sell most of my collection just to get hold of a pair of D7000s. Might have to settle for a Lawton makeover or some Martin Custom Audio cups+Lawton pads on my D2Ks. frown.gif

From what I hear the d5ks are a better "bang for your buck" over the d7ks.
What I mean is that the d5ks are a huge step ahead of the d2ks, whereas the d7ks are only a small to medium step above the d5ks..

How do the d5000 and 7000 compare to the new d600s? I had to sell my d5000 and I miss them every day. Looking to buy some new denons

I owned both and I am not sure if I would say that. To me the D7000 was a big upgrade over the D5000 in regards of bass control and definition. The midrange was similar but the highs were also better. The overall presentation of the soundstage was more expansive and 3D IMO.

I've owned all and kept the D7000. I place the D600 in between the D7000 and D5000.

This. IIRC, the D2000 and D5000 are identical in terms of their drivers.

I thought the only difference was the cups..  Wood on the D5K and plastic on the D2K..

I believe the cable is also different.

That is correct. The only two differences is the cups and the cable. The drivers are the same.

FIRST DAY INSIDE THE D7000; FIRST TIME POSTER!

I just jumped from the D2000s today simply because I got the D7000s for $450 on craigslist.  Feeling pretty fortunate about getting them at that price.

Probably helps that I've started listening to EDM first (amazing!), although I did throw some Deftones (white pony) action at them and was thrilled.

Anyway, I loved my D2000s but am, of course, having very much fun with these.

Cheers!

You certainly got a bargain. I can see the D7000 increasing in 2nd hand value. Equivalent cans of that kind of build quality and performance are now about twice the price of the D7000 when it first came out.

That's nice to hear.  I wonder if I should wait on selling my D2Ks then....?
