Where to Find Triple.Fi 10vi Replacement Cable?

Hey guys. I've currently got a pair of Super.Fi 5 Pros, and love them. However, I've recently started using an iPhone 3G, and would love the built-in mic of the Triple.Fi 10vi. Does anyone know where I could find a Triple.Fi 10vi replacement cable with the built-in mic?

Thanks in advance for any help.

you can call UE and ask. The might charge you, they might not.

I've heard that they'll only send out the replacement cables to Triple.Fi 10vi owners. I'm not sure how thoroughly they'll check to make sure that you're an owner, but I suppose it can't hurt to call and find out.

I don't know if anyone's following this thread or not, but I've just heard back from a customer service rep at UE. Here's their response:

Ultimate Ears has decided that we are not going to be selling the iPhone cable separately, you will only be able to obtain that cable with those feature when purchasing one of the special iPhone models.

Looks like I'm out of luck, and may need to sell my Super.Fi 5 Pros soon to pick up a pair of Phonak's with the microphone.

I've always been a big UE proponent and have owned super.fi 5 pro,s and now triple.fis... But when I first got an iphone I also tried to buy a cable with the "v" functionality. (it was before the logitech change)

I got the same response.

I gotta say, what a load of crap. for a company that was once known for their amazing customer service (I've received replacements for products out of warranty and recommended them based on the amazing responsiveness and service), this is a nasty thing to do to your customers...

BOOOOO Ultimate Ears.
(angrily written while listening to my triple.fis)

A coworker found a pair in a garbage can. The cords were cut in half. But the actual earbuds looked fine I guess. He called customer service, and told them that he needed a new cable. The guy took his info down and sent one. so call them up and ask them for a new one?

Yeah. I found it really annoying they weren't willing to sell them separately.

That may be my last resort. By any chance, do you know if your co-worker found a pair of the Triple.Fi 10vi's, or "just" the Triple.Fi 10 Pros? From what I've been able to gather, they seem to not want to give out the Triple.Fi 10vi cable without being able to prove ownership of the 10vi's.

Absolutely. I was tempted to upgrade to the Triple.Fi 10vi's, but I feel like I'd be giving in at that point, which I'm sure is exactly what UE wants people in my situation to do. I think If I get a new set of headphones for the iPhone, I won't get a pair of Ultimate Ears, just out of spite (not that they'd care).

As a side note, I'm sorry to hear that you're a Mountain Hawk. I grew up in the Allentown area, and went to Bucknell.

not sure. but I do know that they did not ask for proof or anything. I think that's YYMV obviously. Call up and ask. If they turn you down, call back the next day. I don't know how big their customer service dept is though

that is a strike against UE in my book.

Honestly forcing consumers to get a NEW triple fi just for the cable is a real mean thing to do. What a load of crap.

Silly thing to do. Have their marketing dept not noticed just how many 3.5mm equipped mobile phones are being sold?

I am surprised that there are no third party after market cables with similar functions yet. Huge market potential here.

I don't see the justification for not selling the Triple.Fi 10vi cable separately, other than expecting people to upgrade to the Triple.Fi 10vi's. By doing so, they're alienating their customers. I decided to pick up a pair of NE-7M's for $50, when I would've gladly spent close to that amount for the Triple.Fi 10vi cable. Thanks, Ultimate Ears. I'll now be a happy NuForce owner, instead of spending more money with UE.
