Well mine aren't anywhere near burnt in yet, but I don't find them to be very bass shy. If there is a lot of bass in the song, the bass is there tight and punchy as it should be... It does seem though that the amount of bass you get out of these is very dependant on getting a good seal.

Anyway, more later after they've broken in some more!

Hey does anyone know if these losen up a bit after some wear or do they always squeeze your head as if if were a pimple they were trying to pop?

Mine loosened up over time. The 280pros are like a cat -- it takes awhile for you to get accustomed to each other.

They're not fully burnt in yet, but the 280's are starting to sound really good! Bass response is excellent! These things go really Low!

I also just picked up a pair of PX 200's yesterday and while they definately sound better after a bit of burn in, I still think the bass is pathetic! Somebody already mentioned this but it sounds more like an extension of mid bass that any real bass. How the heck can these be related to the PX 100!?! I'll give them a couple more days but if they don't improve they're going back. They really don't isolate well enough to warrant such crappy bass!

I think that person would be me.

I actually withdrew that opinion later, in the same thread I believe. The PX200's bass response is highly dependent on positioning. Try adjusting them lower than you normally would and see if that helps. Then fiddle around with them til it sounds right. At this point, my PX200's bass is quite adequate, nice, full and tight, better than the PX100 in fact.

I've tried all sorts of different fits, and just can't get them to have a lot of bass... and I find the 280's bassy (a lot of people don't) so what's the deal... am I just one of those people that just can't get the right fit with the PX 200? or is it that I need to burn them in more?

Okay, I finally found a position that mades the PX 200's have some bass, for me it's higher than normal rather than lower. I still don't think they compete with the PX 100's though...

They're definitely somewhat tipped up on both the low and high ends, but I really wouldn't call their bass "boomy." Sounds pretty tight to me, there's just quite a lot of it. Ditto with treble.

Overall, the V6's (actually it's the 7506's I've heard) sound excellent to me for studio-recorded music (not uncoincidentally they're marketed as studio/mastering/DJ cans), probably not so hot for acoustic stuff since tipped up lows and highs add a tinge of unrealism to my ears. IMO, one either likes the V6-type sound or not. They certainly add some life, sparkle and punch to the music.

Do you have any info about whether an E6 portable amplifier would improve sound on HD280Pro?
