There're tons of ppl who can afford balanced amps but scare to modify their glorious headphones such as R10, L3000, Ed8, DX1k, etc. So I made this thread encouraging that you can still get balanced benefit without re-terminating your headphone cables (and it worths your balanced source upgrade).

Hmm but still seems chance of destroying the Amp by doing what you suggested. Shame to ruin such an expensive amp or dac.

You may think what you are hearing is better than SE, but I can assure you it is wrong. I am sure it sounds different than SE but most would not enjoy it.

And it is very dangerous to do this to your amp. I never once said what you are doing would not produce audio, it will. Not correct audio but it will. It can also damage your amp, depending on the amps design and if it has any output protection builtin.

You are much better off just using a SE amp of good quality than doing this.

Why the bullying? The OP meant no harm when he posted. I dont see why some people act so patronizing. Are there no room for error here? Do we really need to make fun of someone if they make a mistake or not? Its just bad moral...

If amp has its protection, it's fine. Nowdays most balanced headphone amplifiers comes with protection for something that "might" damage amplifier. Does it sound weird? Not for me but I admit SE sounds easier but also dimmer.

But well, I guess this kind of discussion won't go smoother than this anymore so let's just end it.

My experience is most balanced headphone amps DON'T have protection from overload in this manner. Connecting outputs together is bad. I know, in a similar but different situation, I blew a mosfet in my balanced m3.
