I'll be using a Cowon D2+ unamped and listening basically to classical music and jazz. I like an engaging sound experience. I like to feel "immersed" in the music. I'm more of a "Wow, that felt like I was in the concert hall!" than a "Wow, I could hear the second violin picking his nose between movements" kind of guy Not that detail isn't important. It's just not "detail uber ales" that I'm looking after. I must "feel immersed" in what I'm listening and be moved by the music.

I tried to give you the best description of what I'm looking for. Sorry if I wasn't clearer but the world of quality audio gear is new to me, so I'm not well acquainted with the proper terms yet.

Please advise me before I make a costly mistake. Thanks.
Given your criteria, and as a PFE owner, I think an IE8 might be more to your liking.

x2, the IE8 is definitely more like a concert hall than the PFE, and more immersive. Also, if you want to hear the details, the IE8 has them, but they are more laid back and in the music than the PFE. Just make sure you don't get a fake IE8

I think most closed headphones suffer from this.
I like my RE1s quite a bit when amped, don't think there's anything to be desired with the highs like some. The microphonics are terrible though, particularly above the "Y" on the cable.

Just thought I would bring it up because the RE1s are open IEMs, not closed

So I have a later newer version of the PFE's (I've been told the only real difference between them is the new green filters that supposedly bridge the gap between the grey and black filter). So my question to you is have you tried the green filters and has it changed your reflection on the differences between the two?
